Weird Baby Posted: 06-09-07 19:57pm
ok, i just wanted to see how weird some of
the things valkyrie is doing are
i havent cared for a newborn in 6 years so
im not completly sure anymore
heres some of the stuff she does
shes had tears (real tears) since she was
born (even the doc was a bit shocked about
that), shes trying to roll over (if she
could figure out how to move her arm she
could do it) since about 5 days, she hates
laying on her back only her side (actualy
i think that might be a medical problem,
when she lays on her back she gags a lot
and seems to stop breathing but when on
her side shes fine), she smiles (since day
2), she laughs (since day 8ish), she tryes
to pull her umbilical stump off
(literally), she loves to be naked, she
tryes to sleep though the night (i have to
wake her up to eat), she can hold her head
up pretty well, she didnt cry when she got
her hep b shot (until they took the needle
out, then she cryed to a few seconds
only), she stares at teh tv all the time,
um...theres more things that seem weird to
me but i cant remember them
oh and yesterday i was holding her and her
diaper was just fine but she pushed it
over with her foot and peed on me then
smiled...that was odd

lol @ "weird baby" title. She doesn't
sound weird, but she does seem incredibly
bright. Congrats

you gave birth to a super baby!
i remember when finn was a newborn i
thought everything he did was advanced and
amazing. he started rolling over at 2
weeks and did it regularly for a few
weeks, then didn't do it again until
almost 5 months (and then it was only
belly to back, it wasn't until after 6
months that he was able to go both ways).
he's also had amazing head and neck
control since he was about 1 week old, so
good that i started putting him in his
jumperoo at 7 weeks.
the smiling is what shocks me though! i
know most babies smile in their sleep and
other times involuntarily when they're
newborns, but i've never heard of a
newborn being able to control it. that's
pretty cool!
aren't the real tears the saddest? finn's
only cried real tears like 3 times and
it's just one lonely tear and it breaks my
heart.
oh, and this goes without saying, more
pictures please!!!

Is she doing better now? She does sound
like a great baby!
I too am suprised by the smiles, and
laughing even. How special is that
tho!!!
Have you asked the doctor about her
gagging when on her back? Maybe she has
reflux?
And I'm surprised she cries tears! I
thought Brayden was too but it turns out
he had a closed tear duct (very common)
and when his eyes got naturally wet it had
no where to go so when he cried it looked
like tears...maybe thats what she has? I
would think the doctor would have known
that but maybe something to ask about.
Its common in babies and usually corrects
it self by 6 months!
Don't worry about her sleeping through the
night, actually cherish it! Thats what
Brayden did in the beginning but after he
grew out of that 'new baby' stage his
sleeping started to move into the ever 2-3
hours thnig and it stinks!!!
Gosh I hope you're little one is doing
better, I didn't have a chance to comment
on your other threads because i barely
have time to get on here but it seemed
like you had a tough week, hope things are
going smoothly now!!
We want some more pics!!

thanks
bridget, i doubt shes really advanced
(with a person as a mother and a retard as
a father shes kinda doomed lol) shes just
weird...but i love my weird little baby,
if she wasnt weird i dont think i would be
able to claim her as my own
the smiling is weird sometimes but it is
awsome, she even does this little face (i
call it her "im so cute" face) she puts
her hand under her chin and tilts her head
to the side then smiles...ive been trying
to get a picture of it but everytime i get
out the camera she stops...little buthead
lol
jennie she is doing much better, we
changed her formula (and i had to stop
breastfeeding because the milk protien in
it bothers her stomach) and shes fine,
only spit up 3 times so far so its great,
shes actualy eating, only problem is all
the antibiotics they gave her in the
hospital gave her a pretty bad case of
thrush
i will try to post some pictures on
tuesday or wendsday, after graduation
