Are Yeast Infections and Chlamydia STDs ? Posted: 06-11-07 12:59pm
Several weeks ago, I had swelling, redness
of the vulva with itching and pain upon
urination. I experienced some blood in
the vulva. After a week, it subsided and
I then had a really sore throat. I looked
and saw that my tongue was green/grey.
I have had unprotected sex with my
boyfriend who swore to me he had never
been with anyone beside his wife. I told
him I believe that he had given me a yeast
infection. He said his wife has them all
the time and it is not sexually
transmitted. He suggested that I go to
the drug store and buy Monistat 7 and it
would treat it.
I am inclined to believe that perhaps this
is Chlymidia. Is this a sexually
transmitted disease?
I am a widow and have never been with
anyone but my husband so I know this did
not come from me.
I also gave him oral sex.
I went in to HIV testing when I learned he
is also involved with another woman. He
assured me they use condoms; however, as
he never did with me, I doubt that he
did.

Although a yeast infection is not
officially considered an STD, it can be
passed between partners via sex.
Chlamydia trachomatis is bacterium that
causes a sexually transmitted infection.
The transmission of Chlamydia includes
vaginal or anal sexual contact. The signs
of a Chlamydia infection are unusual
vaginal discharge, bleeding after
intercourse, bleeding between menstrual
periods, abdominal or pelvic pain. It is
treated with antibiotics. You can consult
a gynecologist for a correct diagnosis and
treatment of your symptoms and to detect a
possible Chlamydia infection.
