I have been sexually active for the past
month and for the past two months I have
been getting my period regularly on the
4th. Before I had super irregular periods
that could come in intervals of three
months. However, this month on the 4th, I
got dark brown discharge instead of blood.
I thought this was okay because most
people get that before their period
anyway. But it's been a week and it's
getting heavier! It's thickish too and
strangely, I don't get discharge during my
sleep, because when I wake up, the
pantyliner would be clean. It seems the
discharge has taken over my period because
I still haven't seen any blood!
So of course I got worried and I took a
pregnancy test yesterday, on the 10th,
but it came back as negative. The last
time I had sex was around the end of May.
Did I take the test too early? Or is this
discharge normal? Or should I see the
doctor?

i often find that during my period my flow
stops at night because i am lying down.
so when i get up in the morning it starts
again.
it sounds to me like this discharge is
your period. when it's brown it is just
because the blood isn't as fresh. i've had
'strange' periods before in my time, and
it has always been nothing to worry about.
i really dont think that was too early to
take the pregnany test. if you were
pregnant it would have showed up by now.
if you are still concerned you could take
another. but if you have been using
proper protection it is unlikely (you have
been using protection, right??) besides, i
dont think implantation bleeding is ever
very heavy, anyway.
