"Should marijuana become a legal medical option?"

Do you think that patients should be allowed access to THC as a pain reliever? Many believe that marijuana can help ease the symptoms of painful and/or chronic conditions or treatment such as AIDS, Alzheimer's, Arthritis, Asthma / Breathing Disorders, Chemotherapy, Crohn's, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Epilepsy / Seizures, Glaucoma, Hepatitis C, Migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscle Spasms, Pain, Analgesia, Psychological Conditions, and Tourette's Syndrome.

Others claim that marijuana is a gateway drug that will lead to abuse of narcotics and want to see the substance criminalized. The opponents of the medical use of marijuana state that the risks of medical marijuana include drug addiction, cancer, brain damage, decreased reproductive ability, and possible death.

Are we talking about proven statements, or about different opinions?

If there is proof that it eases the symptoms of different diseases, especially painful
ones, I tend to lean to agreement with making it a legal medical option.

Personally I feel if marijuana is used to ease medical symptoms it would not
be a gateway to other drugs.

If it is taken just for the purpose of achieving a "high", yes, then it would lead to more dangerous drugs. People, that take this to get high, will be looking for higher
highs.

People, who take this for easing pain, would be satisfied if it does the job. Besides, they would be taking it under Doctor's supervision. (I hope).

I'm not a health professional, and have no experience with marijuana. So, this is just my opinion.

BTW I just joined, and this is my first reply. I'm looking forward discussing things here.

I agree, and I have tons of experience with pot. I do believe that MJ can be a humane means for dealing with pain, but I also have experience with addiction. I just think that people need to be given the chance to make their own choices. I don't believe that governments know what's best.
