Im almost 6 weeks along, and I am having frequent and troublesome lower back pain. It keeps me up and night and is really painful and stiff in the am. Is this normal during first trimester, I would have expected this in late 2nd and 3rd trimester. Has anyone else experienced this? Or do we need a new mattress?

I did. It was sciatica. It was the worst pain ever. The morning was better for me, it was the end of the day that was my worst time.

I had back pain from the time I was 9 weeks until I delivered. It had something to do with the relaxin my body produced and my hips shifted, causing pain in my sciatic nerve.

Be sure to mention this pain to your doctor.

I had the *same* thing that early. It was .sciatica, as well.

My Dr. said there was nothing for it besides knee to chest stretches. I was working at the time too Crying or Very sad .

Every little movement I made sent a shooting, piercing, shreak of pain up and down my entire left side.

It hasn't happened yet with this one, and I'm 12 weeks. so hopefully I'll get lucky this time! ::crosses fingers::

I can totally emphathize with you though!!!

ugh... sciatica...

i'm having a pretty bad flare up right now. the only thing i can do to make it feel better is flex my foot all the way to the side as far as it will go and hold it, then release and do it again.

sciatic pain is the worst , i got it late in pregnancy with joseph, but then at 8 mths old is when i got pregnant with jordynne and i had it from the start, i thought after joseph all the pain would go away but nope, it sucked, it hurt to bend over to sweep and mop, i couldnt sleep on my back and even sitting on the couch for 30 min hurt me, i swear i was walking like an fool near the end cuz i couldnt walk normal cuz the pain shot all the way down to my leg. I still have flare ups now and my daughter is almsot 6 mths old! But its not quite as bad.
