Spinal Fusions

Hi without going into the detail of my own back pain history, I have have had two major operations in the last three years. The first was a spinal fusion at S1, and had a Wallace Ligament attached to L5/L4, and L4/L3. A year post op the pain returned Sad , most likely from the worn discs at L5/L4 and L4/L3.

I therefore had a two level disc replacement at the levels mentioned above, one year post second op, the pain returned again Sad .

Do you see a pattern emerging here .

I can't comment on your case, but the point I am making is that just beware that surgery does not always work. Having said that I think I am still slightly better off for now, who knows what the future holds, having had surgery.

Good Luck whatever you decide.

I have had a fusion at l4 l5 and will soon be adding l3 to it.

I think once you start having surgeries it all goes downhill from there, at least on my end, I have had 4 so far and I'm only 39 lol.

Anyways, with what I have read and what my surgeon has told me, when you have a fusion, the discs above and below can become weak because they are working for the discs that have been fused.

That is what my problem is, the disc above the fused discs has become weak and ruptured and is now pinching more nerves.
