Baby Tubs
Posted: 06-14-07 02:08am

I need some advice on baby tubs. I had a baby tub with Nathan and it was awful. It seemed very uncomfortable to him and he would often slip down when he was a newborn to about 2 months. I have looked into ones with slings/hammocks, but have read mixed reviews. I am sure I will get mixed opinions on this thread but if anyone is or has used a baby tub they just loved, please let me know! I would like to purchase one fairly soon.

Thanks:)

i had a few diff kinds, i had the blue one thats all connected they they lay at an angle sitting up sorta, that was my favorite one, another one i was given that was like a mesh seat sorta and u placed that in the regular bathtub to use, i was afraid to use that one so im not sure how well it would work lol. i had another that had a part where when they are older they can sit in but the other end was made more for infants but that one leaked because u could shrink it for jsut the seat part and water seemed to leak out alot. now they are bigger so i have the safety first seat that attaches to the tub side wich i like alot better then any other seat at all, jordynne is 5 mths old almost 6 mths so she cant sit alone yet but i sit her in the seat and hold her up a little cuz she is stil sorta small for the seat but thats my all time favorite seat, and ilike the baths that u put the water in so you could bathe them on the floor in it rather then have them hoisted on a counter or something.

I really like this one. The padding keeps him from sliding, although he likes to get as low into it as he can so the water is covering his neck. It looks like it will be neat when he gets a bit older too.

Tub-To-Seat Bath Complete by: The First Years
The First Years Tub-To-Seat Bath Complete is one product that can take you from baby’s first sponge bath all the way through to a secure and fun family bathtub experience. Use the bathtub in the sink or on a countertop for your newborn and young infant, and store all of your baby’s bathing supplies in the drawer. Then, when your baby can sit up, the tub easily converts to a tub seat by using the storage drawer as a safety clamp that fits over the side of the family tub. This tub really grows with your baby!

I have a blue one that has green grippers on the bottom so that the baby sits at an angle and it also comes with a sling. I have really likes it and no problems so far. It says its newborn-toddler..I'm not sure if he will really be able to fit in it as a toddler but its working great now! I got mine at target and I think walmart has them too..very cheap..

I used a blue plastic tub with a drain in the bottom and it was squishy-foam lined. I think it was from the first years. Then I went to the tub ring/seat with the four suction cups on the bottom when she was about 4 or 5 months. I got rid of that because now the only way to keep .Hannah still is duck tape. You should see her in the tub, she is everywhere. She pretneds like she's a synchronized swimmer or a tadpole or something. I think she probably covers about a mile of distance by the time we are done with her bath. Now there is only about 2 inches of water in there, because I am sure she would drown herself! Laughing

It seems like a lot of people are happy with the first years. It's great to know that the babies tend not to slide on it.

I am almost decided on the first years. There are a few others with slings but I read that the slings tend to get moldy pretty quickly and you have to wash them a lot. I have way too much to do, like most parents, to keep up on washing a sling to prevent mold! The concept looks so great, though.

Thanks everyone:)

I had a sling too and it's not that much work...just clean it out when done bathing baby like you would a baby bath and then just let it dry in a nice air-y place...I .N.E.V.E.R got mold...so i didn't have a problem with it at all...my mom had the first years one with my sister and got a foam insert but it would mold really quickly if not tended too right away...she had to keep buying one every few weeks...it was just a waiste...but it helped her be more comfortable in the bath...
