Do the pro's weigh up the cons of medical
marijuana?

I do believe the pros outweigh the cons of
marijuanna.
Almost anything done in moderation is
pretty much good. That's the primary
teaching of buddhism!

Yeah, you can't remember if you ate that
last bag of chips and salsa or not.

Isn't there new research stating it
doesn't actually ruin your memory any
worse than drinking does? I mean honestly,
if you get totally high, you can't
remember everything just like someone who
gets totally shot-faced can't remember
anything.
Except to my knowledge marijuanna doesn't
cause a hangover. Or vomiting. Or
poisoning.

That the united states can't tax it
properly because there is no way for them
to regulate it. It would cost them
billions to produce it, and they would
never be able to stop it from coming in
illegally. There would be no way for them
to tax it properly because you couldn't
tell what was 'fda approved' and what you
bought from side show bob. They would lose
to much money in fines that they make from
it now and couldn't make up for it in
taxes.

That's a con for medical mj? Or just
recreational mj? I thought we were
specifically talking about medical mj, and
I couldn't think of any cons for that,
except that it might lead down the road of
legalizing recreational mj.

I don't feel like this is a negative.
Since anyone can grow it, I don't think
the gov't has the right to tax it anyway.
Why does it have to be approved by the
.F.D.A.? Why does the government have to
produce it? I think there is something to
be gained for people whose health could be
improved by it being allowed to grow it
themselves and saving the little people
money they would be paying for
prescriptions. Many of the peole who
would benefit from its use are typically
on medicare and disability due to their
health status (not all, but many).
Personally, I like not having to pay
almost 500 bucks for 28 pills.

I appologize. I believe that I was not
clear in my original post.
I personally, agree with legalizing
medical mj. However, my original post is
the major con that the government has with
legalizing it. Not me.
sillyakchick-The portion of your post that
I have quoted is how a majority of people
feel. Unfortunately, the governement does
not.
Birch-I was speaking of medical mj (though
it applies to recreational as well). I do
agree with you however, that it could lead
to legalizing it recreationally in the
future.

Pro's: people with cancer or other
ailments that cause horrible pain and
nausea may get a bit of relief
our police will be spending less time on
infractions involving mj and concentrate
on the hard core drugs like heroin, coke,
crack, and people that are selling their
methodone for other stuff.
Con's: get the government involved and
they will tax the daylights out of it,
sell the nasty brown weed to the people
who really need it and save the good stuff
for themselves.

lol yes...
cons - the government regulated pot has
seeds, which makes us all sterile
but seriously, there are alternatives to
medical marijuana. I just cant help but
think they are using cancer patients etc.
to try and sneek in the world wide
leagalization of marijuana. I am all for
leagallizing it, but I think medical
marijuana is just a made up reason to make
it widely available.
