23 Week Doctor Appointment
Posted: 06-14-07 16:35pm

I havent been able to go to the doctor for the last 8 weeks due to health insurance problems. I FINALLY get to go next week (Thursday). My previous appointments all went well, the ultrasounds and bloodwork looked good, strong heart beat. Since then I have felt the first movements and now the baby is kicking! Anyway, this is the first appointment I could schedule with my new health insurance and I am VERY anxious to make sure the baby is still healthy and doing as good as it was. I am also anxious to know if it is a boy or a girl. My boyfriend has to go out of town for 3 days and will not be there for me doctor's appointment....disappointing!! What I am wondering is what would your opnion be on telling him the news of the sex of the baby over the phone vs. in person when he gets back. I know there are much bigger questions out there but curious how others would handle this?? I was very much looking forward to him hearing at the same time I did but if I can find out next week I really want to. What would you guys do??

Ask him if he has a preference. If he's okay with being told over the phone, do that. If he'd rather you tell him in person, do that. If he doesn't care, do whichever would make you happier. Wink

either way, I would be all for finding out as soon as you can.

Chase's idea is really cute, or you should so something special, like when you pick him up at the airport have alittle pink or blue outfit in the car, or hand some pink of blue shoes of the rearview. If he is coming home on his own, put some little pink items on his pillow or somewhere he goes to!
ideas anyways!! But I like the idea of finding out together with the paper in the enveloppe!!!!

Thanks for the ideas - I dont know why I didnt think of Chase's idea but I really like it and think I will do that. If I can resist my snooping urge to open the envelope! Otherwise, thanks babyAndy, the pink or blue surprises would be a nice way to welcome him home!

My ultrasound pics were on a cd and .I wanted to put them in a neutral colored gift bag with a bow and a card that said "open me, my first pics" and surprise .Mike that way, but .I can't keep a really good secret like that, so when .I got out of my appt. I texted him and kept asking if he wanted to know what we were having. After about 5 minutes of teasing .I spilled it.

I am the one who has given everyone's .Christmas gifts early because .I can't stand to wait. Embarassed

i wouldnt be able to contain myself either lmao, me and suprises dont work. jason gets his stuff early all the time haha. chases idea was really good, or if u get pics from the ultrasound have the tech write it on the ultrasound and put the ultrasound pic in a pink or blue card or neutral. maybe havea friend or parent hold onto it to give to you when he gets back, my husband was away while i was pregnant with my son so he didnt goto that appt, i wrote josephs name on mybelly in blue marker and took a pic of it and emailed it to him. if it was a girl i woulda wrote the girls name on my belly inpink or red marker Smile

thanks for your ideas! I went to the dr yesterday and had already agreed with my boyfriend that I could find out but am waiting to tell him tonight when he gets home. The "tech" asked if I wanted to know the sex, I said yes and she said a girl. I started crying, just happy to know the sex and then a few minutes later the doctor came in the room and asked if I wanted to know the sex and I said she had already told me it was a girl. He said, no, its a boy! It was a very weird way to find out and a bit anticlimatic or strange to say the least but it is definately a boy and he looks very perfect and is doing very well. I wanted to blurt it out to my boyfriend on the phone but to stop myself I just talked to him for a minute and told him the baby is healthy. I'll be using some of your ideas and getting something blue today to let him know when he walks in the door!

Congratulations! Boys seem to be going around lately. You will have to tell us tomorrow how it went when you told your boyfriend. Good luck!
