*every* addiction starts out as a psychological addiction..... if you dont let yourself get hooked, you dont....if you believe you are, you are.... that simple!... but then theres those people who chose to be addicted and hit denial... with what i classify a major drugs, thats when you allow the physical addiction to take place! everyone knows they dont need it...
but with pot- theres no physical addiction at all.... no withdraw.... no sudden urge to replace your "addiction".... its all in your head- dont wanna get addicted- keep your head on strait!

that is correct. I think you can be addicted to donuts and aspirin if you choose to be! Marijuana is not addictive, that has been proven time and time again..

Yes, all true. That's the point. Saying pot is not addictive is a right-out lie. I don't care how much you dislike hearing it, because it's a fact and it needs to be stated.

World of Warcraft is addictive. Porn is addictive. Masturbation is addictive. However, all three of those things CAN be used in moderation. So too can marijuana... but that does not change the fact that it IS addictive.

Substantial research exists regarding marijuana and addiction. While the scientific community has yet to achieve full consensus on this matter, the majority of epidemiological and animal data demonstrate that the reinforcing properties of marijuana in humans is low in comparison to other drugs of abuse, including alcohol and nicotine. According to the U.S. Institute of Medicine (IOM), fewer than one in 10 marijuana smokers become regular users of the drug, and most voluntary cease their use after 34 years of age. By comparison, 15 percent of alcohol consumers and 32 percent of tobacco smokers exhibit symptoms of drug dependence.

According to the IOM, observable cannabis withdrawal symptoms are rare and have only been identified under unique patient settings. These remain limited to adolescents in treatment facilities for substance abuse problems, and in a research setting where subjects were given marijuana or THC daily. Compared with the profound physical syndrome of alcohol or heroin withdrawal, marijuana-related withdrawal symptoms are mild and subtle. Symptoms may include restlessness, irritability, mild agitation and sleep disruption. However, for the overwhelming majority of marijuana smokers, these symptoms are not severe enough to re-initiate their use of cannabis.

Pot is in no way addicting... at all... i know from experience that it is easier to quit pot then it is to quit drinking caffeine... All you have to do is break the habit. Anyone that says its addicting just doest want to quit. Its a personal choice and habit just like biting your fingernails. If a relative of yours chews on their fingernails all the time you dont call them an addict or tell them they are dependent...

Its called propaganda :]

and another thing.... if you tell someone everyday that they will not succeed because of something they do, they will not succeed... When a Partnership for a "Drug Free" America A.K.A. the major tobacco and alcohol companies, tell children through the most influential thing in their lives... T.V. That you throw away your life and your friends if you chose to smoke pot, chances are you will.... Take a look at this if you will

Brainwashing (also known as thought reform or as re-education) consists of any effort aimed at instilling certain attitudes and beliefs in a person.

If you have no knowledge about marijuana for yourself, firsthand that is, then it would be extremely easy to brainwash you into thinking its a horrible "drug"...

It is true that people that use harder drugs usually started with marijuana. But i can guarantee you that people that use marijuana used dihydro monoxide...
why not make dihydro monoxide illegal too :]

Every perscription, over the counter or even right down to headache medicine should be illegal before marijuana. pretty much any pill says there is a risk of dependency (sp?) or mentions addiction in some way or another. marijuana is only psychologically addictive like as homerx said so is shopping.

i do smoke pot. and i do enjoy it quite a bit. sometimes once a month, sometimes once every 3 months. sometimes i'll get stoned from friday once school's out till monday when it's starting again. i can use it in moderation. i can also chose not to. i dont feel the need for it. i dont even enjoy it an abnormal amount. it's just fun.

like nintendo. or like playing catch. OH NO! HE'S ADDICTED TO CATCH?. its just fun. thats all.

i fear it causes weird mental effects on me though because my brain is very strange to begin with o.O
