I am a male and had a unprotected vaginal
sex 7 days
ago with someone I didn't know very well,
additional I
performed a small amount of oral sex-but
saw no
visible signs of anything. The day
following the
exposure I had an abrasive masturbation
session. The
next day I felt a generalized burning
sensation all
over my genitals, but mostly at the tip of
my penis
and a bit on my testicles. I also had an
odd burning
on my left foot(hopefully this is all just
anxiety)
But the anxiety is through the roof- I
check for
symptoms 30 times a day. The Burning
sensation has
lasted 6 days from exposure and is
somewhat
fading...... I look at my penis and can
see small
bumps that could be anything - there is no
overt
redness and no obvious irrations-but
little bumps seem
to come and go as I stretch the skin. ON
day six i
developed a cold sore(I get cold sores
maybe once a
year during stress) and this time the cold
sore
appeared on both upper and lower lip - but
not all
that bad....I went to see my doctor on day
five for a
respiratory tract infection, I told her
what happened
and she did a chlamydia and syphilis test
but said
Herpes test this early would not help
without visible
lesions-she saw none. I intend to go back
for HIV and
Herp blood test at the appropriate time...
during
this six day period I have had terrible
anxiety -no
sleep in a day and a half and not eating!
My
questions are:
1) if I developed a cold sore on my face
is that
indicative anything other than stress-from
oral?
2) additionally, if the cold sore(HSV1)
appeared
wouldn't HSV2 also appear and is it a good
sing that
the HSV1 came and no HSV2 symptoms(as no
visible
lesions and the burning is subsiding
mostly at day
7-almost)
3) or is all a crap shoot and I should be
expecting
something to happen soon?
4) Finally- If my HSV1 provides some
protection
against HSV2 symptoms could the be so
minor that
although I have HSV2 I have no visible
lesions
Last question-sorry - IF I test positive
for HSV2 is
it possible that THE COLD SORES ARE hsv 2
AND not HSV1
and is it really all that helpful if the
test cannot
determine the actual location of the
virus?
THank you very much

sorry no one has gotten back to you. HSV1
is in the mouth, HSV2 is on the genitals.
They are in the same family but they arent
the same.
You could be positive and not have any
syptoms either in your mouth or genitals.
Only a blood test will tell you and you
can have one and not the other. I think
you are just stressing yourself out way
too much. Your body is just reacting to
the emotional and mental rollar coaster
you are putting it through.
