I had sex yesterday and it was my last
active pill I start my inactive pill
today. Am I still proctected? Or will I
become pregnant because I am on the
inactive pill? I'm still learning how bc
works I've been on it for 10 months.

You are still protected. The leaflet that
comes with your pills says so too. People
really need to read the info that comes
with their pills. We get the same
questions a lot, and they're almost always
answered in the packets.

Yeah, most of the questions we get would
be answered if people actually read the
instruction booklet that came with the
drugs they are taking. It gets pretty
frustrating.
Why the heck would anyone take any drug
without reading all the information it
came with first?!?!?

For you information I did read the leaflet
that came with my bc and it did not have
that information in there. So if you
think I stupid for asking the question so
be it. I just wanted to know since it was
not in the leaflet.

my leaflet didnt come with that answer

i think mine only tells what to do if you
miss a pill and all the risks associated
with taking pills and smoking, blood
clotting ect.

A doctor also should have told her. I'm
not saying she's dumb for asking, I'm just
curious as to why her pill pack didn't
have that info. Seems dubious to me. My
doctor also explained everything about the
pill, because I was curious about the
placebo week too.
Perhaps I have just been lucky and never
met a dumb doctor before?! All of mine
have always been very thorough in their
explanations and I never had any questions
after; and if I did, I asked right then
and there.

hm maybe you do have luck with doctors
haha
...usually when i go in i have a million
questions and then when i go to talk to
the doctor i draw a blank.
sometimes when you first start out you
dont think of all the problems that you
slowly come across when taking such thing
as birth control.
....when i had a horrible ear infection i
was given antibiotics and it was at the
walk in clinic that the doctor gave me a
prescription. he told me it would reduce
the effectiveness of birth control. but
then i talked to another doctor (phoned
one) and he told me that only 2 or 3 drugs
reduce effectiveness and mine wasnt one of
them. so i dunno its really confusing cuz
you think that you would get the right
answer from a doctor! with my experience
anyway.. then again i do jump all over the
place cuz i dont have a family doctor.
it is nice to have a site such as ehealth
where you can ask others that are going
through the same thing.
Eiri i find you being very helpful to this
forum! thanks for your knowledge.

THank you ^_^u
As far as asking doctors questions, I find
it helpful to write them down before I go.
Also, of course random things are going to
pop up; can't predict everything! But
that's why I then call the doctor and ask.
As far as the antibiotics and birth
control: From what I've learned, it is
true that only a few antibiotics and other
medications actually affect birth control.
However, many doctors and people who give
advice still tell women on pills the
general statement of "antibiotics lessen
the effectiveness" just for safety's sake.
