ovaries cysts problem / ttc Posted: 06-17-07 19:55pm
I am new here. I am 24 years old,
married, and studying to be a registered
nurse. A little over a year ago, I
started having problems with my ovaries
(cysts). I had surgery in January to have
one abnormal cyst removed because they
suspected it could be cancerous (it
wasn't). Up until this past month, I
wasn't having any more problems. But we
started trying to conceive this month and
now I feel like I have a cyst on each
ovary. So, I'm a little worried! But I'm
trying to stay optimistic. I do have a
very regular period (every 26 days) and my
obsetrician says I don't have PCOS.
I have an account at Fertility Friend, but
this is my first month of charting so I
don't think I'm doing it as well as I
could and I'm also having a hard time
trying to figure out whether or not my
chart shows any signs that I could be
pregnant. Are there people here who can
look at these charts and maybe tell me
something?
Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry that you are having a problem
with cysts. As long as you are still
ovulating, they should not interfere with
you conceiveing. You may want to speak to
your doctor. Have you started taking any
prenatal vitamins yet?
They can monitor you and also read your
charts to see if you will need to see a
fertility specialist. When temping, it is
important to take your temp as the same
time every day. You should also monitor
your cervical position and cervical mucus
to help in predicting ovulation. Also,
opks can be a big help.
You should join us in the 'getting
pregnant' forum. There are a lot of
wonderful women there going through the
same thing. I hope to see you there!

I have been taking prenatals ever since I
decided I was going to stay off the pill,
back in January.
I have been doing pretty good taking my
temperature, there was a couple of days
that I took it way later than usual. I
wasn't very good at checking CM either,
lol! But, I'm going to read up more and
if I'm not pregnant this month, I'll be
sure to do better next month.
My husband says that we should try for a
couple more months and if nothing has
happened, we're going to talk to my
doctor. I don't want to jump to
conclusions because I know the cysts
aren't cancerous and we haven't been
trying long enough to really approach him
with a "problem".
I'll definitely check that forum out!

unfortunatly most OB/GYN dr don't consider
it to be a problem until you have been TTC
for over 12 months in a row. As far as the
charts the best reference you can get from
them is after 3 months of charting. it
will give you a rough estimate as to when
you are ovulating.
odd fact: Even healthy women can miss a
month or two of ovulating in a callander
year.
I suffer from pcos and insulin resistance
ttc for 2 years. I am 8 weeks pregnant.

have been trying to get pregnant for 4
years now and nothing. i started taking a
pill called ovulex, and vitamins fish oil
and folic acid. i am also charting my
basal temp. my cysts are not big enough to
have surgery on and i went through some
infertility procedures. if these things
dont work i will be going back to
infertility. there are some books on
infertility that are great i will write
back later with the names of them....

I, too, assumed my doctor wouldn't even
consider the fact that there could be a
problem unless I had been trying for a
year. But the day I was released from the
hospital, he told me to come back at the
end of the summer if I hadn't gotten
pregnant and he would refer me to a
fertility specialist. Scary.
I wonder if I have PCOS....I don't really
have any of the symptoms, though. Or any
ones I do have, I don't know if they are
severe enough to qualify as a symptom.

It's best to start taking prenatals as
soon as you start trying, but many women
do not know that. So I'm glad your
starting on the right foot!
It is commonly excepted that you shouldn't
see your doctor until you have been trying
for one year. However, that is not 100%
correct. If you are completely (to the
best of your knowledge) reproductivly
healthy, then you should wait a year.
However, say you are charting and do not
see ovulation for three months or longer,
you should go to your doctor. Chances are
they will refer you at that time. I,
personally, have a ovulation problem. My
doctor gave me 6 weeks and if I hadn't
ovulated in that time, she was to refer me
to a specialist. I do not (as far as
everyone knows) have pcos. You can have
cysts and not have pcos. It works the
other way, you can have pcos, and not have
cysts (go figure). And when you do not
have pcos and a history of painful cysts.
Ovulation inducing drugs are not always an
option (like in my case) therefore, only a
specialist can help.
I hope you get your bfp before you even
need to worry about a doctor though!!

What Worked For Us... Posted: 06-20-07 14:28pm
My wife too suffers from ovarian cysts.
We have been trying to get pregnant for
over two years. A few months ago, we
decided that she should get prescription
for glucophlage after speaking to our
fertility doctor. My brother-in-law(who
is a dentist) suggested that I we try
taking goji berry juice before she starts
putting chemicals in her body. He had
been prescribing it to his patients for a
year or so to help with periodontal
disease with great success. In his
studies he discovered that it has also
been an effective fertility enhancer/cyst
reducer. I am very skeptical of health
food fads, so I told him that I didn't
think it was for us. He persisted and
gave us a months supply as a gift. So I
thought what the heck...I'll try it.
After just a couple of days, we both
noticed that we were getting the best
sleep of our lives. We attributed this to
the juice and since insomnia has always
been an issue for both of us, we have
continued to take it for the last 4
months. At my wife's last annual her
doctor found no signs of cysts! Now I am
happy to report that last week we found
out that we are pregnant. I am a believer
now, and I hope that other women will
benefit from this wonderful all natural
alternative. The following is a link to
the company that I buy goji from. Check
it out and judge for yourself. I hope
this helps.

Rouse? How Presumptuous! Posted: 06-23-07 12:45pm
Assena,
If your "friends" who are "into"
alternative medicine have not heard of
goji berries I doubt that they know much
at all about alternative medicine as it
has been being used in eastern medicine
for hundreds of years. The site that I
gave a link to is informational so people
can read and decide for themselves if it
is for them. Yes, I have suggested it on
this forum for those who suffer from
insomnia and anxiety, things that it has
helped me with. I am just informing
people of what worked for my family and me
and really didn’t expect incendiary
accusations. I don’t profit from it at
all! I guess some people don’t have
anything better to do with their time.
Jude-Love,
Goji helps people with a lot of different
ailments and I think it is great. The web
site is freelife.goodlife(.com) If that
doesn’t show up please PM me for the
link. Thanks.
