Hi, I'm a 20 year old male. At about age
14/15, I started getting red spots on my
legs and arms whenever the surroundings
are cold, for example, when swimming where
the water is cold, in air-conditioned
rooms(not always though), and when I
travel to cold countries. The red spots
protrude out of the skin and are itchy.
Are these what you call cold rashes or
something? My doctor gave me Cetirizine
tablets (Zyrtec) to take every morning if
I am travelling to a cold country or when
these rashes act up. I would just like to
understand what is the name of this
disease and why it happens in terms of
hormones/neurotransmitter or whatever is
involved. Thanks a lot!

It's called cold urticaria. I think I have
it too, and I'm looking up things about it
while I wait for a dermatologist to call
me back. This was the most informative
site I could fine on it

It's complicated for me because having
cold urticaria would mean avoiding the
cold, while my eczema means having to
avoid the heat to avoid sweat and itching.
My body is just not satisfied. I'd also
like anyone else's input on this.

Allergic Diseases
are very common and their incidence is
increasing. Allergic diseases can affect
almost any organ in the body (eyes, nose,
skin, lungs and the digestive system).
They vary from mild to serious ones even
lead to sudden death as is seen in drug
allergy, insect bites and even
foods.
I have my little brother who suffer from
allergies. He is currently following a
treatment at JD Healthcare.
They are doing different tests with
him...I would really advise you to visit
this site: [link removed] to be sure about
what you are suffering. You will get loads
of information there on different kinds of
allergy.
