things here at the ranch

valkyrie had a doctor appointment on friday (follow up from the hospital) she is doing wonderful she is up to 9 lbs 3 oz and is 22 in long

shes sleeping well and is getting into a "schedual" all on her own

wakes up about 7 eats goes back to sleep until about 9 goes back down for a nap about 12 sleeps until about 3 goes back down about 6 sleeps until about 8 goes to bed about 9 or 10 sleeps until about 4 eats and goes back to sleep until about 7 (all other naps are usualy only 5-15 minutes)

her cord fell off about a week and a half ago, she is trying to crawl but doesnt have enough upper body strength yet, still rolling over and getting better at it (rolled over (back to belly) all the way once but hasnt done it again), vocalizing more, holding her head up for long stretches of time

now here comes a question, im not sure if anyone can help me or not but its worth a shot right?

i havent been breastfeeding her for 2 weeks now, since she is milk protein intolerant that means lactose free milk wont help any, but...

if i cut all milk products out of my diet how long would it take for the protein to be out of my milk, i am still making milk
(just not a whole lot) and if i can i really really want to breastfeed, ive been thinking about this for a while, it just feels like the right thing to me and i wanted to know if that would work and if its even feasable to try to breastfeed 2 weeks after stopping?

if anyone has any research or personal experiance that would be wonderful

ok i think thats it for now

I think you have up to 7 weeks to start up again (not really sure). I'd try pumping to see how much comes out.
How old is she now?

i don't know anything about breastfeeding and milk protein or whatever. i do know there's a supplement called fenugreek that helps increase your milk supply. if you haven't dried up completely it's worth a shot. maybe you could call the lactation specialist at the hospital? or check out the la leche league website.

it sounds like valkyrie's doing great though! she sounds a lot like finn as a newborn, they even have very similar stats (i don't remember what val was when she was born, but finn was 8lbs5oz and 20 1/2"). sounds like you lucked out in the sleep department! i hope she keeps it up!

more pictures, please!

Here are some suggestions from the La Leche League:

Drink 8 glasses of water per day at a bare minmum.
Pump between feedings, and freeze the milk to feed baby until your supply is adequate
Supplement as little as possible
Nurse on one side, then the other, and then back to the first side. at the next feeding, start on the opposite side.
Mother's Milk Tea can be taken up to five times per day,and between those times, fenugreek supplement (capsules can be taken three times per day.
Get plenty of rest and nutrition
Dairy should be out of your system within (I think) 2-3 days. so pump pump pump for three days and then try giving her some of your milk and see how she does.

THis can be accomplished, but it is not easy and will take a significnat time commitment on your part. Contact your local hospital to see if they have a lactaion program. They are a good source of info and can help you determine if baby is getting enouh. I hope this works for you! Breast feeding is just a lovely experience once you get going.

Some hospitals have "hospital grade pumps" to rent which they say are better than the ones that are sold commercially. Don't know if that helps you.

the .Medela pump is the best pump out there. Don't waste your time/money on other pumps from the store.

They don't work. It's not you, it's them! lol

we want pics! we want pics! we want pics!

even if they're sleeping pics!!!
