Carbs or fat or whatever it all depends on
the individual system.
My daughter has ibs (irritable bowel
syndrome) one of a number of auto-immune
diseases which can also mimic each other
& she can't eat sugary foods, potato,
sweet potato, corn, pasta, rice or bread
of any sort if she does her system just
doesn't work & aside from being sick
she loses weight (to dangerously low
levels) a friend on the other hand who
also has ibs can't eat cheeses etc which
my daughter can & does eat in massive
abundance.
Other people have celiacs disease so can't
eat gluten etc etc etc so whether carbds
or fat or anything else is good or bad
depends on your system & any
deficiancies.

You need a certain amount of both in your
diet. You can cut back on fats. You can
eat fat free, or reduced fat food if thats
what you prefer. But as far as carbs go,
you need to eat carbs, because thats where
you get energy. You can cut back on
carbs. Like only eat it 2-3 a week, but I
don't suggest cutting them out of your
diet. My friend cut carbs from her diet
completely and she lost all of her energy
and started getting sick alot.

It really depends on the person, but if
you read a book (or you can read it
online) about the "atkins" diet, which
limits carbs, it really really makes
sense. Not only does it make you lose
weight, but it levels out blood sugar,
gives you more energy and has a lot of
other health benefits.
Carbs is where you get your energy, but if
you are trying to lose weight and you cut
carbs out, then your body will use its
stored fat for energy. Plus, a lot of
carbs are so very bad for you anyway.
And sugar is soooo very bad for you. But
anyway, you can read about the whole "carb
diet" thing at www.Atkins.Com
i always wondered about it and how it
worked and why it didn't raise cholesterol
and what not, but after I read about it,
it all makes sense.
But, like I said it may not work for
everyone. I just started it four days
ago and if you like, I will let you know
how it goes.
Oh and as far as the fat thing goes, your
body needs "good" fat. It cancels out
the bad vitamins that we eat and have in
our bodies. A completely nonfat diet is
very unhealthy.

There are carbs in almost all foods except
meat, so unless you cut out fruit,
vegetables, all cheeses, all nuts &
beans you will still get carbs even if you
doi not eat bread, grains, cereals,
potatoes, sweet potatoes & pasta, so I
wouldn't worry.
If you have an auto-immune disease like
irritable bowel syndrome then eating
starches & sugar (inc for many people
potato, sweet potato, corn, bread, pasta,
cereal etc) may cause you to lose weight
where as avoiding them will lead you to
gain weight. My daughter being a prime
example of this.
Fats are also in lots of foods, dairy,
nuts, meats etc so again avoiding them all
is basically impossible.
