Being a Bit Over Weight Before Pregnancy Posted: 06-20-07 19:39pm
Hello ladies I was just
wondering if there were any ladies out
there that are in my situation. I am
currently about 30-40lbs over weight. I
guess i don't know that for sure, but i
think my healthy weight is around 150-160,
and i weighed in at 203 at my first visit.
I am currently 13 weeks. I was trying so
hard diet before i had my second child. I
was actually on a diet when i found out i
was preggo. lol I was doing the old slim
fast diet, and i was always feeling sick
from it, and i guess it was cause i wasn't
getting enough to eat, and stuff while
being pregnant.
I'm scared to death that my being over
weight might lead to other problems with
my pregnancy. My fiance and I have been
trying to get pregnant for 3 years now,
and we both quit smoking, and then all of
a sudden i was pregnant! So i'm just
scared, and wanted some advice from other
women out there that are i guess you say
plus size pregnancy lol. This is my first
time here, and i thank you for listening
to my story

something may happen, but nothing may
happen
ive known people who are perfect weight
and get gd and preeclampsia and other
problems
where as i am quite overweight and i had a
perfecty fine pregnancy no gd perfect
bloodpressure nothing wrong that i could
control (i was gbs + but that has nothing
to do with weight)
all that matters is how you do now, if you
eat a bunch of crude things have a greater
chance of going bad, you eat right and
exercise its less likely something will
happen (not impossibe just less likely)
congrats and welcome

Thanks I have been doing
the fruits, and veggie thing as much as
possible. I don't eat a bunch of crap, but
i do get that craving for some pizza, or
taco bell LOL. But for the most part i
have been trying my best to do what i know
is right. I would love to get out and
walk, but my sickness is so bad right now
that all my energy is focused on my
daughter, and my job. Once this sickness
is gone, or better i will get out, and
walk, and get some exercise. My first
pregnancy was when i was 17, and my baby
father left me when i was 3 months along.
This time it's been much more enjoyable
with my fiance, and now going on 25. It
seems like a whole new experience for me
lol. Thanks for your repsonce.

i was just a little less than you when i
got pregnant. i had put on a bit when i
went back to university. i was worried
about it too because i had always planned
to be in great shape before i had a baby
but it wasn't planned so i just had to do
my best. i ended up gaining like craaazy
the first few months. partly because i
was sick and didn't feel well when my
stomach was empty and partly because, like
you, i didn't feel like moving around
much. another thing was i had an ovarian
cyst that i had had for years without
knowing it and that grew really fast when
i got pregnant. they ended up removing it
when i was 5 months and it was 23 pounds
so, yeah, seriously, it was huge. so, not
counting that, i have gained about 53
pounds and i'm 8 months now. i don't have
gestational diabetes or high blood
pressure. i've passed all of the tests so
far. only one left is the gbs swab which
i had today and don't know the results
yet, but, like alicia said, it's not
weight related. i like to think that if i
hadn't had the problems with the cyst that
i would have been more active and i wish i
hadn't gained so much because i feel
really heavy now, but my baby is healthy
so far. thank god. i just worry that i
won't have the stamina for the delivery
and my knees are not doing too well with
all of this extra weight. so my advice
would be to do your best to not overdo it
with the weight gain, simply because you
will feel better. don't feel guilty, like
i did, about being at your weight and
being pregnant because it doesn't
automatically mean you're going to have
complications in spite of what the books
tell you. congrats on the pregnancy and
good luck!! i wish you a healthy happy
pregnancy and a healthy happy baby too!

I will be 25 in Nov, and i had smoked for
10 years. Since i was 14 years old. I feel
amazing. And i have been smoke free for 6
months, and my fiance for about 2. But it
was right after he quit that i got
pregnant. Not sure if that means anything,
but i just pray that things go great, and
i don;t have to worry about anything. Like
i said before. This pregnancy is so
exciting for me. And i finally have somone
to share it with Thanks for your
post.
