Veins Showing In My Forehead Posted: 06-21-07 06:09am
I'm 21 btw. Over the past few weeks, I
have noticed that my forehead seems to be
kinda 'bumpy'. If I put my hand over it, I
can feel a couple minor protrusions and
indents. In addition, the big vein that
goes vertically through the middle of the
forehead is now much more visible.
Granted, I am a thin person and my veins
show easily...but even in regular everyday
situations you can slightly see the vein.
I admit it isn't that bad (yet), it's not
like I look like a skeleton or anything
but if I pointed it out to you it is
definitely noticeable. It's also quite
alarming to feel bumps and protrusions
when you are running your fingers across
your forehead...
I have no idea what the cause of this. The
only explanation I can think of could be
sun damage, cuz I went to the tanning
salon 4 or 5 times in the past month and a
half - but I the durations were really
short, and while I know sun tanning isn't
good for the skin, I thought skin damage
occured only after consistent long term
sun exposure? (as opposed to a few times
in a month). I also have been applying
benzoic peroxide cream 4-5 times a week,
which is extremely drying. However, for
the most part I have been using adequate
moisterizer. That combined with my
naturally oily skin seemed to be fine - I
never had any cracked skin or anything
like that. But perhaps the BP combined
with some sun exposure is the cause of
this? It seems pretty silly that a few
times in a tanning salon warrants
extremely thin skin when you're in your
early twenties. And for the record, 2
summers ago I went to the tanning salon
twice a week, used no moisterizer and my
skin was fine - I haven't been since that
time period though.
Is this permanent? Will applying 2% aha
help clear up the congestion in my
forehead and stimulate skin growth? I've
drastically cut down my use of BP on the
forehead area, maybe only twice a week now
with minimal amounts and lots of
moisterizer. Is there a surgical procedure
or other method that can be done to either
thicken the skin on my forehead, or
diminish the appearance of the vein? I'd
really don't like to use cosmetic surgery
because I don't believe in using the
cosmetic surgery to enhance your looks,
but in this scenario it would be more of a
'corrective' procedure since my forehead
was fine 3 weeks ago.
