Skipping Birth Control Posted: 06-24-07 17:34pm
I have been on birth control for 6 years
now. At first, I was taking the pill and I
hardly ever took it. My mom was worried
I'd get pregnant so took me to get on the
Depo shot. I was on Depo for 2 1/2 years
when my doctor finally told me it was not
good for a lot of reasons to be on it
longer than a year in a lifetime. So now,
I am back on the pill and I try to take it
regularly but when I miss 2 days I will
quit taking the whole pack and use no
other form of b/c. How possible is it for
me to get pregnant? I would like to wait a
couple more years!

VERY VERY Possible!
When you miss 2 pills ALL you need to do
is take them, even if this means 2-3 pills
in one day, then use condoms for 7 days.

If you miss a couple days, then just stop
taking the rest of the pack, that means
you're having unprotected sex. So yes, it
is extremely likely that you would get
pregnant at some point. That's where
babies come from after all! So
if you do not want to get pregnant, you
have to actually use birth control or not
have sex.
Like Cari said, if you miss two, there is
no reason to stop taking the rest. Just
take them when you do remember and use a
backup method for a week. If you tend to
forget a lot, you could try setting an
alarm, using condoms, the patch, or Nuva
Ring, instead.

Thank you both for answering my post. I
realize how serious it is but sometimes
it's just easier to quit taking the pack.
I am going to the doctor soon and will
discuss with him other options!
