Confused I went to the doctor on Monday the 18th she did an ultrasound and said I was 5wk6days the sac was there and said she saw a faint fetal pole. She order a set of hcg blood test. The first on monday came back at 16,450 and the second on Wednesday at 17,800. Everything I have read says it is suppose to double. I have not had any bleeding or cramping though I go back for another u/s on Wed. Does anybody have any information or situations with a pregnancy progressing without doubling HCG?

As your hcg levels get higher they don't rise as quickly. The best thing you can do is talk to your doctor and see what he/she says.

Re: Hcg Levels
Hey there Bkkt! Just wanted to let you know that at the beginning of my pregnancy (7wks or so) my hcg levels did not double either. At one point they actually dropped a little. My doctor thought that I was probably gonna miscarry because of the drop so she sent me for an ultrasound and the baby was fine. Also when she tested my levels again they actually went back up. She didn't have an explanation for it. So I am now 15wks and 4days and everything is going well.

So try not to stress yourself out I am sure that everything is fine.

Good luck and I hope that you have a happy and healthy nine months.

Hcg Levels
Hi there,

I don't really know much about the HCG level thing. I am 6 weeks 4 days pregnant at the moment and at 5 weeks 2 days i had blood taken my HCG levels came back at 3090 which the hospital said were OK! I then went back 2 days later and they had only risen by a 1010 max which had gone up to 4100 the hospital said i was either having an ectopic or miscarrying. A day later i went for a scan and they the the sac and the yolk sac and i have to go back next week they said what they could see was good for 5 weeks 5 days. I have been looking everywhere for reasurance i just want to know things are going to be ok. Does HCG always matter?
