Home Pregnancy Test Question !!! Posted: 06-24-07 21:09pm
Well I had a whim, that I might be
pregnant. I took a home pregnancy test
and it came out negative.
My sister thinks there's a good chance
that it is a false negative, because I got
it at the dollar store (that's all I can
afford, I just got a new job).
I've heard they were trust worthy, but now
I feel confused. Does anyone know if
dollar store pregnancy tests really are
accurate?

I am not sure. You could always get a
pregnancy test at a clinic if you are
short on cash and eager to know.

If I do that, it'll show up on my
insurance--which goes to my dad.
If he finds out I got one, I'm in serious
trouble (to the point of not having a
co-signer for my student loans). But I'm
not entirely sure how it would show up,
since I'm 21.
I don't know, I really don't think I am
now, since that test came back negative.

Are you late on your period? They can show
negative if you are to early to test
positive. I know i didn't test positive
until about 2-3 weeks after my missed
period. But than again i wasn't really
worried, and didn't think anything of my
missed period because mine are messed up
somtimes. And i was hoping i would be
pregnant

I am sure they could give you one without
it showing up on your insurance. After
all, Planned Parenthood and Family
Planning deal with teens who are hiding
the fact that they are sexually active
from their parents every day. They
actually go to great lengths to make sure
that parents do not find out if the kids
do not want them to know.

No, it was on time, but it was
significantly lighter though, and the last
time I had sex was about 2 months ago (had
period two weeks after last time, it was
on time & regular flow).
I've been on the pill for over a year (and
we used condoms, but I know that's still
not 100% effective) and I know it's
supposed to make my period lighter. But
this last one was really light, to the
point where I didn't need super tampons
and I ALWAYS need super
tampons.
I also know it is possible to be on the
pill & be pregnant at the same time as
well.
Did I mention I do tend to over-react
sometimes...the more I write this, the
more I'm thinking this is one of my
moments I need to calm down.
It might also be me having to get used to
the lighter period than my "norm" I had
without the pill.

I've heard they work just fine as well,

My period lightened once on the pill and I
freaked out too. I wasn't pregnant either,
but it did scare me!
I say, take a step back, take a breath,
and relax. Wait a week or two, and go to a
planned parenthood. They can give you a
test for free that will be completely
anonymous.

Really?! They do it anonymously?! That would makes
things 5x less complicated!

The longer I was on the pill, the lighter
and lighter my period got. In the end, it
was mostly spotting, not really bleeding,
all I had to use was pantyliners, but I
was never pregnant. I'd say it sounds
like the test is accurate if you've been
taking the pill correctly. And if you
used condoms, too, that would make the
chance of pregnancy almost zero, IMO. You
can go to planned parenthood for peace of
mind, but it really doesn't sound like you
have high odds of being pregnant.

Since you sparked my interest, I decided
to do my own search:
[removed: please do not post links to
other forums]
there are many other threads with
different answers, but the majority that I
have seen, have said yes they work just as
well as the regular priced ones.
I don't know if anyone else has mentioned
this, but you should also have a look at
peeonastick.com, they explain everything about home
pregnancy tests!

Thank you, I looked at both sites and now
I feel a lot better.
