Q: Am I Really Pregnant ?

I was feeling nauseous, very fatigued and I was 10 days late on my period and finally on that afternoon I vomintted; so, I decided to take a pregnancy test. The test has to windows in it. The window to the right is the control window and the left window is the results window. After urinating on the absorbant tip and waiting 3 minutes as directed, there was an indication of a faint pink line in the results window. Does that mean that it was a positive test and I just don't have a strong enough amount of that specific hormone that is present in the woman's urine?
So, does that mean I am pregnant?

A line is a line. Congratulations!!

If you are unsure, you can take another test in a couple days. But, if I were you, I would go ahead and schedule my initial doctors appt, they will confirm it then.

I have been doing a lot of reading and made an appt. with my obgyn for Monday to put to rest any uncertainties. Through my "research" I came across the term evaporation line which is when the urine begins to evaporate from the test and leaves a shadowy indication of where a positive line would be. I took a second test and another faint line came up but I am curious to know if it is an evaporation line. The line that I see is a color blue but once again it is faint yet noticeable to any naked eye and it comes up within the 3 minutes of the initial urine stream making contact with the absorbent tip of the test. So it wouldn't be an evaporation line, plus I think an evaporation line show no color or can it?

With my last pregnancy I went to the health department to get a pregnancy test and they redid the test 3 times because the line was so faint that they could barely see it, but low and behold I gave birth to my little boy a month ago, so if you ask me I would say you are most likely pregnant. Congrats Smile

IF it came up within the valid time (twice!) then it was not an evaporation line. An evaporation line can occur after you have taken the test and it is past the valid time, then it can show a positive, but it is an invalid result.

How late is your period? Were you trying to conceive?

Well, as of today, I am 11 days late. I was not trying to conceive. In fact I was taking birth control. I did not miss a pill and made sure I took it everyday at 10:30 am. Back in April, my gyno changed my pill because the pill I was on before was all of a sudden (after about 5 and a half years of taking the same pill) I started having breakthrough bleeding. My pills were changed but there was no missed time nor skipped pills during the transition. I started the new pills at the same time that I would have started a fresh pack of the ones I was taking. I hadn't planned on having children for another 5 years. The way I look at it now is that if my fiancee and I took precautions to avoid pregnancy and I still got pregnant, then it is meant to be and that child will and is a blessing. Now we just have to take it one day at a time while planning for the future of our child and our lives as parents.
