Am I Pregnant ?
Posted: 06-25-07 17:19pm

Hey guys, my name's Ashley, & I'm 22. I just recently moved in with my boyfriend of two and a half years, and as I'm sure you can imagine we've been 'celebrating'.

Call me stupid, but not every time has been protected [i.e no condoms]. I didn't think it would be a big deal because of my reaction to the depo shot. June of 06 I got the depo shot, and when my period started in July of 06, it never went away. I discontinued use of depo, but still a year later I'm bleeding. My doctor keeps saying it'll stop on it's own, and that I shouldn't be concerned because I have not become anemic [sorry don't know the spelling].

Even with this bleeding, is it possible for me to be pregnant? The bleeding has lightened significantly, and no longer lasts all days [I'd say on an average the bleeding has minimized itself to a few hours a day or so]. On top of that my breasts have swelled up and are extremely tender, and I've been nauseous starting as of last Monday. Seriously, I've been throwing up and fatigued nearly every day this week, along with minor constipation and tight muscles.

I've gone to a doctor, and he ran tests for different virus' and infections, but those all came back negative. But so did my two hpt's, and the urine test there.

Do you think there's a chance I could be pregnant, even with the bleeding, and I'm just testing too soon? The doctor I saw seems to think it's possible, but didn't clue me in on the probability. I guess all this unknowing and uncertainty is driving both me and my boyfriend nuts.

Sorry for sucha long message, I just really need the advice!

Yes, you could be pregnant. Bleeding has nothing to do with it. Women can get pregnant during their period.

You could go back to the doctor and have a blood test done. It might be too early to detect the pregnancy hormone in your urine.

Maybe you're having some sort of hormonal change due to being off the shot?

I'm not sure it could be a hormonal change because I discontinued the shot in November 06, after only recieving the shot twice. I just wish I could know right now, lol, like I said in my previous post the uncertainty is making me go insane...

Thanks you guys, any one else?

Oh, also... My friend at one point of time thought she was pregnant... She was experiencing some, but not all, of my symptoms and after a negative hpt she went to see a doctor. The doctor said that if there was enough hormones in her to be creating those symptoms, there would be enough to show up on a hpt. Has any one heard the same thing, or know otherwise?

I don't know, but you definitely could be pregnant. Most tests will be accurate 4 weeks after conception if I understand correctly. Some maybe early as 2, but that's pushing it. So you'd really have to wait 2-4 weeks after the last unprotected sex act to get an accurate result.
