Severe Headache, Dizziness, And Fainting (all Tests Neg) Posted: 06-26-07 04:02am
I am a 20 year old female. Last Sunday, I
started having a really bad headache and
thinking it was just a migraine, I took
some advil and continued on with the
father's day dinner we were having. My
husband and I went home afterwards and my
eyes were burning, so I figured I should
take my temp and it was 100.7. The next
day I went to work, and once my fever got
up to 102, my boss allowed me to go home.
About 2 hours later I went to the doctor
b/c in addition to my fever, I was
extremely nauseated and could not keep any
food down, and I had a stiff and painful
neck. When they took my temp, it was up to
102.6. After testing me for strep,
pnumonia, and kidney infection and all of
them coming back negative, she determined
that I just had a virus. However, she told
me that if anything got worse, that I
should go to the ER and get checked for
meningitis. I ended up going, and the
spinal tap came back normal. They sent me
home concurring that I simply had a virus.
My doctor gave me oxycodone and antivert
to help with my headache and dizziness.
The meds helped for about a day. Then on
Saturday morning, I woke up, and my fever
was back, and my headache was worse than
ever. I began having alot of dizziness. I
started fainting or collapsing when I was
walking. After one fainting spell, I got
immensely confused, and didn't really know
anything about where I was or what I was
doing. My husband took me back to the ER
and they kept me overnight. Sunday, they
did an MRI/MRA which came back looking
relatively normal. Despite my inability to
walk without assistance, they sent me home
saying that it was probably still just the
virus doing this to me. My normal doctor
keeps saying that my symptoms should be
gone by now, but they arent, they are
progressively getting worse. I am getting
rather worried b/c I can't focus on
anything, my vision is blurring and
doubling, I feel as though everything is
constantly spinning, my head feels as
though it is going to be able to explode,
I can't do much for myself right now, and
because of this I may end up losing my job
b/c I can't go to work. Does anyone know
what could be wrong with me?
