I worked until I was 36 or 37 weeks I think?
I only stopped because I pretty much was forced by my doctor Confused
I think as long as you feel up to it and you're in good health , keep on working... but if you can afford to take some time off, Go for it!!

I worked up until 38 weeks or so with my first pregnancy. I have to say it wasn't that difficult as my job was primarily a sit down job. I could basically go to the bathroom when I wanted, too. I worked around teachers who didn't quite have that luxury.

You are self-employed and watch your lil' one at the same time? I honestly can't imagine how hard that would be even not being pregnant. What kind of work do you do?

i worked up until i was 32 weeks pregnant. I worked at a second cup (similar to starbucks) as a manager. I left because i found standing all day hurt my back and feet. And the job requires a lot of bending. Plus it was getting busier and busier due to summer and my patience ran out very quickly lol. i do miss working, but i'm enjoying my time at home too.

I am 28 weeks pregnant and still working 40hours/week. You're right...the US sucks when it comes to maternity leave. Although, some companies have their own policy for that. Some pay for the whole 3 months, some pay for the 1st month in full and partial pay for the next 2 months.

But with my company I don't get anything.

I plan on working until I give birth, unless the doc says otherwise. I have been feeling really dizzy and sick lately.

i can't believe the .u.s doesn't take better care of it's mothers. i am so glad that i had my sickness, maternity and parental benefits to fall back on. i had planned to work for as long as i could, but with the surgery and all that i ended up applying for sickness early and i have been on my maternity benefits for a few weeks now. i know our system isn't perfect but thank god i had that option or we wouldn't be doing too well right now. when i think of the states i think of money and power, so it seems ironic that you wouldn't have the kinds of safety nets that we have here in canada, like universal medical care and employment insurance. it's time to get voting ladies!!! i keep hearing about how many hundreds of billions are being spent on the war and it's kind of mind boggling really. i watch the presidential election coverage sometimes and i don't remember seeing these issues being brought up. i feel for those of you who have no choice but to work right up until delivery and then have to return to work when your babies are so young whether you like it or not. that must be pretty hard.

I know...you would think we'd have better benefits considering we're such a great country and people come here to better their lives. To me it's complete bull. Under the FMLA act we are allowed 12 fulls weeks of maternity leave where we can come back to our old position or that of an equivalent position. If we require or want more time off they are not legally required to hold our position.

I am fortunate enough that I won't be coming back to my job after I have my son.

I wish America was as good as people actually thinks it is. The grass is nevver greener on the other side....in my experience anyway!

Yeah, it really stinks. I have often joked with my husband that we need to move to Canada for awhile, so I will be able to stay at home longer once the baby is born. I work for the federal government and I am having to take an advancement on my sick leave. Which means when I do come back to work, not only will I not have any sick time, but I will be in the hole 6 weeks!!!! That is 30 days that I will be in the hole. I only accumulate 13 sick days a year, so it will take me over 2 years to payback that time. But that was the only way I could do and still draw a paycheck. The united states really needs to revise their leave policies for new parents.
