Animal Control Just Came to My Door!
Posted: 06-26-07 10:45am

our buzzer just rang and i ran to it thinking it was ups because i'm waiting for something from them. nope, when i asked who it was the reply was, "animal control looking for bridget ______".

i got so nervous and i don't know why! i'm still shaking!

so i buzzed him in and a million things were going through my mind. i figured someone reported my dog for something, though i couldn't think of what.

then i was wondering if he'd eaten a cat or a small child and maybe nick had forgotten to mention it.

nope... his license had expired in april and i'd forgotten to renew it.

ok, i hadn't forgotten. i just hadn't gotten around to it. the notice i got in the mail said to renew it in april or pay $1 for every month it was late. there was no mention of a $25 ticket that would be served in hand!

i'm mad even though it was my responsibility to renew it on time.

Shocked Laughing

License? Your dog has a license? Is it for like verification of shots or something?

yes, don't you have to register dogs everywhere?

i have to show proof that he's had his rabies shot and it's usually about $7 a year to renew.

i could get in big trouble if he bit someone and he didn't have a license.

I've never registered any dog, nor do I know anyone that has. (aside from blood line papers). Here you get a little tag that goes on their collar that says where they got their rabies shot and when. That's it. You have to have proof of their shots in case they do bite someone/something (or else they will put them down).

Whoa, that would freak me out too. Yeah, we have to license our dogs (and cats) as well. It's $5 a year.
Wow, I wouldn't think animal control would have done that. We pay ours thru our city hall.

I swear I cracked up when you thought he had eaten a small child! hahahahahahaha!!!

We don't have to license our dogs here. I'm kinda glad we don't now that I know you get a ticket if your late on renewing it!! Shocked

Our animal control officer is a effin jerk!! My old dog passed away a couple of years ago and he came to my door the year after basically accusing me of hiding an unlicensed dog out. He said, "Come on .Cindy, it's only $X to license her" when .I told him she had passed away he was looking in my house to see if .I was lying. I was so wild .I told him if he ever set foot on my property, .I would have my cat eat him.

Thank you for reminding me though, .I have to go register .Coda now that he has been neutered and had his shots.

we have to register our dogs here too. It's $12 a year for the city and $6 a year for the county. When I first got my dogs I lived outside of the city so I got to pay county price. Then when I moved and my county tags expired I had to pay city price. That ticked me the eff off. But at least here they don't hunt you down every year. If you don't renew then you don't renew. Just don't let your dog out. Wink
