Blood On Tissue
Posted: 06-26-07 14:06pm

For the last 5 or 6 weeks, I have sometimes noticed bright blood on the tissue after wiping. There is, however, no blood in the stool. It hurts quite badly when having a bowel movement. Kind of like trying to pass glass. This has slowly been passing, it doesn't hurt quite as bad now, but I'm also not having a bowel movement as frequently as I used to and I also now have this dull, annoying slightly painful feeling in my lower right buttock. I don't know if it's the on the inside, or perhaps a muscle strain. Sometimes when I stretch, it feels like it goes away. Does that make sense? and sometimes it feels like the strain is down more towards the top of my leg. Any ideas? I'm kind of paranoid, but that could be because my aunt was just diagnosed with bowel cancer. Any information would be great.

First of all are you pregnant and if so how far along are you.

It could be that because you are having a hard time having a bowel movement that it tears a bit if your anus. Therefore causing you to have blood on the tissue but not in your stool. I wouldn't be concerned about cancer if there isn't blood in your stool. But if you are really worried go get checked by your doctor. They can test your poop to see if there is blood in it, because sometimes it can't be seen by the naked eye. My grandma was recently diagnosed with bowel cancer and she kept saying that she didn't have any blood in her stool, but she was extremely anemic with low iron because she was in fact losing blood but she just couldn't see it.

Depending on how old you are you should start having scope's of your bowel's done. My husband had one done at 30 because his mother died of colon cancer at a young age.

Hope this helps.
