I've never heard of swelling due to pregnancy so early either. Have you eaten anything overly salty maybe?

Propping your feet up wouldn't hurt! Also, drink lots of water. It might just be slight .edema.

i don't want to scare you. i was just looking it up. i can't find anything before the 5th month where they first mention swelling, so i don't know how normal it is. just watch for sudden swelling, especially in your hands and face and if you get dizzy or headachey make sure you let the doctor know. for swelling, besides just putting your feet up and keeping cool, you can try staying really well hydrated.

thanks... my office is quite hot today and i guess it is time for flats. the swelling is not bad just an impression from the buckle going over the top of my foot... (funky i know) I have had headaches for the last 2 days though....

I will try to cut back on my salt consumption as well ( i used to salt a majority of my foods) sorry for the upstart it just freaked me out a bit since i have never experianced this.

just make sure you communicate with your caregiver because preeclampsia is nothing to fool around with. i'm really not trying to alarm you or anything but my doctor drilled these things into me so of course i think about it right away when i hear about you having swelling so early on. i didn't have any until i was at least 30 weeks or more. i just think it wouldn't hurt to mention it to your doctor when you get the chance.

oh that's good to know. yeah you need to go easy on yourself and not overdo it. i know it's hard sometimes because you can start feeling guilty but you are working on a baby and that can take a lot out of you sometimes. i'm glad the doc isn't worried about it. i'm so sorry if i worried you. Sad

Girl, I feel for you. I have been retaining water pretty much since I found out. I remember taking off my shoes after our 'celebration/anniversary' dinner and my feet had marks from my shoes. I have also been leaking protein since my first appointment. They will check your bp all the time (like 3 times every time you go in) and they will make you come in for every little thing (headache, dizziness, vision changes, etc..) At least this is what they made me do. I have also seen allot of specialists cause they couldn't figure out what is wrong with me. I have pre-pregnancy kidney problems so it is something I just have to deal with.

Btw, none of my shoes fit anymore. Even my size 11 flip-flops are getting way too small.

Kaerbear don't sweat it Smile i should be concerned if this gets worse. I was insulin resistant before i was pregnant and I am terrified that I am going to develop GD. pre - e is another worry. i like that we can come here and talk so that we dont freak out too badly about our fat feet Laughing another day done only 200 and some change to go..

I swelled up like a balloon when I was pregnant, but it wasn't untill the end. I agree with Sarah though. Prop your feet up daily. Take like an hour to yourself just to lay down and try not to eat salty foods as much. LOTS OF WATER too. trust I have been there. You might want to bring it up at your next Dr. appt.

i proped my fee up when i got home last night (laid down on the bed and put my feet up on the head board... i was impressed within 15 min the minor swelling went down. Although my wedding ring does not fit now and I weighed my self this morning and wow... not good. I have put on almost 10 lbs. Now mind you i quit smoking and all my medications a month ago so I guess this does not help.

i never swelled up in the begining but i did have slightly high blood pressure they just say if u notice your hands or face to swell up or constant headaches to let them know asap. Definately decrease salt intake, eat lots of fruits and veggies. Dont be afraid to let your work know if your not feeling ok. My work was nice even though they were all male managers i worked in retail they offered me a chair if i needed it or more breaks and stuff but i never took them hehe. So it is always good to let your managers know.

I swelled up the last 3 months. I remember the first time .I noticed my feet/ankles were swollen. I was horrified. By the end .I could only wear slip on shoes, because even crocs (gross) and flip flops were too tight. I went in to have my son barefoot, because nothing fit.

For me having one of those inclined platforms under my desk worked wonders and any good employer will get you one. I still use it.

Drinking loads and loads of water and staying away from salt is important. Put your feet up when you can. As massive as my feet and ankles were, my bp was always low low low

I guess it brings new meaning to barefoot and pregnant. Smile

I am limiting my self to only one glass of juice at dinner and the rest of the time it is water for me. i started walking during my breaks.. i hope that helps.

Once .I put my shoes on for the day, they couldn't come off until .I got home and had no place else to go, because they would not go back on. There were many times .I would leave my dr. office with just my toes in my shoes, forget getting the rest in. I hated that the most. I couldn't imagine being preggo in summer heat. Ugh
