ok so i went to do the diabetes test today... i didn't *eat when i woke up and went strait to the office, they gave me that sugar drink and i waited the hour. they took my blood and everything seemed fine, but then on the drive home i got really dizzy couldn't breathe and it felt like i was so tired i couldn't move, i even started sweating... my mom started putting food in my mouth and telling me to eat and drink water... a couple minutes later i was fine... but could that have been gestational diabetes? i have about a week and a half before i find out the test result... any ideas?

edit: missing word *

wow. i actually think they mentioned to me when i was doing the test to let someone know right away if i felt dizzy or faint. i've seen people with diabetes faint when their blood sugar was off and that's scary. if i were you, i wouldn't fool around, i would call the doctor and ask for their opinion. i didn't feel anything like that when i did my test, i just burped a lot and was dying to eat something as soon as it was over. i hope everything turns out ok but make sure you take good care of yourself!

* the symptoms you described kinda sound like insulin shock.

It sounds to me like your sugar level got to low. I am hypoglycemic (which means I have low blood sugar; it's the opposite of being a diabetic) and when my sugar level starts to get a little low, I feel really dizzy, faint and nauseated. I get a little shaky and feel weak and very tired. I can usually eat something high in protein and feel better within a few minutes. I would definitely call your doctor and tell him about the after effects you had from the test. They may be able to put a rush on your test results to see if you do have gd. Hope all is better!!!

Yea when I went for mine I got shaky dizzy , like room spinning dizzy and I had severe heart palpatations... you could see my heart beating through my t-shirt!
I was sweating buckets and almost threw up ... I was so scared. I called my doctor as soon as I got home...
Turns out I'm hypoglycemic as well.
Be sure to let your doc know!

I had my glucose test 2 weeks ago and they said my sugar was a little high. So I had to go back and do the 3 hour test, which was this past Tuesday.

I had to drink double the "goo" and it made me very sick. I threw up and passed out. My doctor said because the drink shot my sugar up really high.
When I got home I ate something and threw that up, then I started sweating and turned really pale and passed out again. The doctor said that was because my sugar went really low.

That has happened to me before I got any of the testing done where my sugar dropped really low.

So I don't know what I am... I get my results on Friday.

I'm surprised it takes a week and a half for test results. Mine are ready in 2-3 days!

Sorry..I would definitely ask them to put a rush on your results!

it doesn't actually take a week and a half, that's just when i go back to the doctor and that's when they'll tell me. I've never had that type of reaction to something like that before so i think it was just the amount of sugar that went through me then was gone. i've actually been craving sugar alot since the beginning of my pregnancy and i've never been much for sugar. i actually don't like it in fact. i probably have a mild case and it won't really effect me (because so far besides for that it hasn't). i will call my doctor though, i just have to wait till my .mom gets home i want her to confirm to the doctor what happened to me.

I just found out today that I am not a gestational diabetic. Actually, I have a hard time regulating my sugar. One minute it could be sky high and the next drop really low.

I am on a diabetic diet for safety... lots of protein for me, until Aden gets here!
