Q: Can you conceive before you're fertile during the menstrual
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 28th, 2007
Hello, I was wondering if it's possible to conceive if you have unprotected sex before your fertile period. My last period was 6/5/07 and I had it for 4 days. I have a 29 day cycle and had sex on 6/12/07... Is it possible to conceive on day 8 of your cycle????

Lmp: 6/5/07
length of menses: 4 days
29 day cycle
sex: 6/12/07 & 6/19/07 (unprotected)

***any feedback is greatly appreciated and I want to thank you in advance***

A woman's most fertile window is the time period from 2 days before ovulation until 2 days after ovulation. Ovulation happens about 14 days before the next menstrual period comes. If your cycle lasts about 29 days and your last menstruation started on the 5th June, it appears ovulation should occur on the 20th June. This means that your fertile period was from the18th to 22nd of June. In your case, having sex on the 12th June (8th day of the cycle) wouldn’t generally cause conception. If the cycle last 21-24 days, having sex on the 8th day could cause conception.
