Is There Something I'm Not Getting???

There are quite a few people in our family that have children around Ava's age. I bust my butt reading up on things, trying new things, trying to be the best parent I can possibly be and here are these "other" parents. They let their children sleep from 2 am to 2 pm, put soft drinks in their bottles when they should be having formula, propped their baby's bottle up and leave them in a house alone to drink their bottle and fall asleep while they go outside and drink, leave their baby with a sitter all the time to spend money they don't have. Oh, and I absolutely can't stand when people cry about not having money, yet they go out, get their nails done, and smoke like dragons.
And here I am thinking sometimes that my best isn't good enough. Is there something I'm not getting? Are these things okay? Am I the only one not putting coke in my child's bottle????

Sorry, I'm just surrounded by these people daily and I have to bite a freakin hole in my tongue.
One day I'll tell them how I feel.

coke in a baby bottle??? that's a new one on me. there are people who haven't got a clue how to take care of a kid or just couldn't care less what's best for them. whether it's simple ignorance or selfishness or both, there's nothing anyone can do to stop them from making babies. there are a lot of charities and children's agencies and social workers etc that do what they can to help those people. it's the way of the world. i don't get it either but i don't know what you can do. it's really sad for those kids (and society in general) that their parent's don't know or care to look after their best interests.

And the sad part is these people are in my family. We have a decent family and these people should know better.

i have a couple of wonderful mothers in my family too. i heard that my cousin's daughter was just charged with welfare fraud because she's been on it since her first daughter was born but has never raised her. she has three kids now, her daughter is about 10 or 11 and is being raised by my aunt. her second oldest is about 7 and is being raised by another cousin of mine. she still has her youngest, but leaves him with relatives for long periods of time so she can go out and party and stuff. apparently she has been receiving welfare and family allowance benefits for all of these years for all three kids and she is in a big heap of doo doo over it now. what if she has to get a job and repay the government now??? i don't think she has ever had a job in her life (she had her first when she was 15 i think). i can't believe she got away with that for so long and no one told on her, not even the people who were raising her kids and getting none of their family allowance cheques - which are about a couple hundred per child per month depending on how much money you make, i think.

I see 3 year olds with *bottles*, not cups, full of coke!!! But I also see young babies with bottles of coke and wonder "what the hell is wrong with you people?!?!"

sucks that they're in your family. Don't feel obliged to say anything. you don't have too, I'm sure they get enough bad looks from people!!! lol!!!

those people are just extremely lazy parents. it has to be that, there is no way they could just be that ignorant. anyone with the intellect of a tea spoon would know putting soda in a babies bottle is completely unhealthy and gross.
