False Positive Hpt? Posted: 06-29-07 10:55am
Well, 3 months ago we started TTC. I went
off my pill. Before I started taking the
pill like 8 years ago I was never regular
going from 21 to 35 days. For the last
three months I have made sure to keep take
so that I could kind of estimate when I
was do to see AF. Well today is day 27
since start of last AF, the last 3 months
AF came in 25, 26 days. So I got excited
and went to the drug store and bought a
HPT. Took the test, it came back
POSITIVE.... now i am all worried its a
false positive. So here are my questions.
Please bare with me if they seem a little
stupid, i'm new to this whole thing. 1) if
I peed on the stick for a couple seconds
too long would it give me a false positive
2) If some splash back got on the viewing
window would that effect the results? (
the die did not run or anything)
F.Y.I the brand of test I used was first
response with the pink lines

False positives are very rare. However, I
am not familiar with the effect that over
saturation would have on the results.
(though I doubt it would). However, I
suggest that you take another test, just
to put your mind at ease.
Make sure you let us know as soon as you
take it! Good luck!

Well I couldnt wait any longer so I took a
second test. This time i was sure not to
pee too long and made sure there was no
splash onto the stick. It also came back
positive. On both lines the second line is
very dark, so there is no doubt that they
are for sure positive. And I got results
in like 15 secs (not three minutes like
the test says to wait). Not really sure I
will fully believe I am pregnant until the
Dr confirms.
