hello! i am in my 28th week now and i want
to pick a name! but dh and i are not in
agreement at all. We are having a girl and
i want her name to be Ella Grace. or maybe
Lilia Grace. He wants Cecilia Grace,
(Grace is a name we both like) with the
nickname Ceci (pronounced sessy) because
he loves that nickname. now he is just not
insisting, i told him it sounded too old
and he said so does Ella. i am like no
way! his step dads mothers name was
Cecilia and she died about 6 yrs ago so he
wants to name our baby after her and it
just so happens that the nickname he loves
goes with it. then when i told him it is
not going to be Cecilia he got all pouty
and was like, well i guess i don't get a
say then... and then he said then i can't
have Ella. even though he likes that name
too! how did you ladies handle this type
of disagreement?? i feel bad because it is
a nice thing he wants to do but i want to
be happy with the name also. and he
basically said he won't be happy unless it
is Cecilia.

Hmmmm honestly....the way I handled it was
probably not the best lol. I was in a bad
mood and basically told him if I was
giving birth I was naming the kid. That
didn't go over well. BUT we decided that I
would name the first boy and he would name
the first girl. Of course I am having a
boy so with the next kid he gets to name
it wether it's a boy or girl. The only
other thing I could tell you to do would
be to sit him down and talk to him and
find a compromise with the name. Maybe
find a way to get what you both want out
of it.

really like ella grace. you may
compromise, however, by making one of the
names you like or cecelia the middle name.

thanks for your replies! i did suggest her
middle name be Cecilia or even the
ceci/sessy since that is the name he
really loves. but he does not want that. i
feel bad because he has good intentions
with naming her after his step dads
mom.... but i just know that is not her
name! i don't know what to do. one of us
is going to have to give in... i don't
want it to be me, but i don't want him to
be completely bummed either. i would like
to have her name picked before she is born
but maybe it would be better to have the 3
that are liked and decide when she is
here. thanks!
