Ear Pop Everytime I Swallow Posted: 07-05-07 13:04pm
I hope somebody can help me out with this
as other forums I've read led to nowhere
and now this is getting quite serious.
My ears have been popping for over a year,
maybe 2. They pop everytime I swallow or
yawn. EVERY TIME!!! I've been to a few
ENT Specialists who have led me to
nowhere. I've been on allegra and nasonex
with one doctor. No results or
improvement. Another doctor just laughed
it off and said it was no big deal. And
my current doctor tried me on steroids for
a week, no improvement and now put a tube
in each ear. They've been in for about 2
months with no improvement either.
It has become very frustrating and
irritating more than ever before. It is
literally driving me insane at times
because of the frequency of it. If I
swallow 8 times in a minute, my ears pop 8
times in that minute. Which ends up being
480 times in an hour! Imagine your ears
popping that much!
If anybody knows of anything that has
helped them or knows what may help, please
respond back. It would be greatly
appreciated. Please too if you need more
information ask!
Thanks!!!

Sounds like you have been having a rough
time. Mine have popped but not nearly that
much and it is usually from excess fluid
in the ears. Have they tried giving you a
steroid shot to help dry up the fluid.

No, they haven't mentioned that. Did you
have that done?
I may have to bring that up next visit.
Thanks for the suggestion.

For about a year I have had a popping in
my right ear. I went to the doctor (emt)
and he said that everything was fine and
gave me some nose drops that didn't help
at all. The emt also gave me a MRI to
check my sinus, but still couldn't find
anything. Now it seems like my right side
of my neck where my glands are is getting
larger. I'm concerned. My dentist said I
could have TMJ. I don't know where I go
from here. I have to hold my ear and open
my jaw to pop my ear. I do this about 5
times an hour. I would love some relief if
anyone has any answers...
