Home Pregnancy Tests Posted: 09-02-03 20:40pm
What do they sell home pregnancy tests if
they aren't in the least accurate? If
there can be false positives and false
negatives, what's the point? You won't
know even if you do take one.

There are good brands that are very
accurate by 99%, some can be wrong though.
That is why they say if it comes out
negative then take it again in a few days,
it all depends on the hormones it catches
in your urine. Its the best way to find
out rather than sit there and wait for
your period to come and take a guess that
your pregnant.

Home pregnancy tests are accurate to the
extent they can be. How accurately they
are used also affects the results.
Some tests indicate you are to use your
first urine in the am which would contain
the strongest content of pregnancy
hormone...But you may have gotten up at
4:30 in the morning to go to the bathroom,
then tested at 7:00 in the morning.
If your fingers touch the pad where you
are to test the urine, that may affect the
accuracy.
You may be testing too soon to tell.
You may think you see the "pink circle" or
the "double lines" or the "check mark"
indicating a positive result...
Lots of factors come in to play.

From what I have read and been told, home
preg. Tests are very accurate as far as
positive results. Getting negative
results is a bit more tricky, you may not
be picking up enough hcg yet to read
positive.

Never Had a Problem With a Pg Test Posted: 09-09-03 22:16pm
Hi all the tests I have taken have worked
just fine, I think they are rarely wrong
when giving a positive answer. Took a
digital one with this preg and that seemed
to be the best for me because you didn't
have to attempt to find the faint lines.

Does This Sound Foolish??? Posted: 09-11-03 07:02am
Hi,
i am not sure if this is the correct place
for my question; am new here. I have a 9
month old baby. My period has not started
yet, after her birth. 6 weeks ago, I took
a home pregnancy test, which showed a
negative result. I want to know if the
test works as normally in my case now as
it would if I were having my period
regularly. Does the fact that I am
nursing my baby interfere with the test's
accuracy?
Thanks!

Hi pinta,
from what I understand, it is harder to
get pregnant while you are breastfeeding
you may find that you don't have any
periods until you are down to two or three
feeds daily. However there may also be
the occasional day of spotting. Also you
may show a false positive on a pregnancy
test for up to 3 months after giving
birth. But if you think you are keeping
taking the tests!
