My Birth Story.
I'm gonna make this short and sweet.
I went in at 7:30 Wednesday morning, they
broke my waters at about 8:30 and started
the oxytocin at about 9:30.
They were a little worried though, as I
was only 1cm dilated and 25% effaced.
They said I stood a good chance of having
a c-section... because I could possibly
not progress fast enough and the baby
could go into distress.
I sat there, very uncomfortably until
about 6.. I was 4cm dilated ... and they
came in and asked if I was ready for my
epidural yet, I told them I wanted to try
to hold off for a bit,,
I was in alot of pain. I didn't handle the
contractions very well I got sick to my
stomache a few times and just kept crying,
like such a sad little cry.
I thought I would handle it a little
better than I did but looking back I think
I did quite well, I just felt like a wuss
at the time.
The nurse came in about 20min later and
told me the anestheiologist (sp?) was
topping off a woman

and
then leaving for a few hours, I knew I
couldn't do it for that much longer so I
got the continual epidural
I was terrified of it, but it only pinched
for a second and then I was feeling a lot
better.
I ended up napping from 9 to about 12
where they said I was about 6cm dilated
and 75% effaced,
I was starting to feel funny though.
My body was literally convulsing I was
shaking so much and I got a very high
fever, I was literally delirious.
I wasn't feeling sick, just zonked out of
it.
They ended up upping my saline so i
wouldn't dehydrate and oxtocin to get
thing's moving quciker.
I was nodding off and on a lot after
that.
Then at like 1:45 the nurse checked me and
said I was fully effaced and 7cm, only a
few more hours probably.
I didn't know this until after I had
her... The baby's heartrate ended up
bouncing between 165-185
The nurses were getting pretty scared and
were actually getting thing written down
and worked out to send me in for a
c-section,
but all of a sudden at 1:55 I had this
extreme urge to poop.
I screamed at my nurse telling her I
refused to poo in my bed to take me to a
damn toilet (poor girl she was just a
trainee)
She went and got the other nurse who then
said well that's the baby coming down
ifyou feel the need to push, just push
(passive pushes, I thought she said
practice pushes)
So i was like ok , But for practicing, it
hurt A LOT.
haha. The nurse got the trainee to then
check me,
The funniest thing I ever heard
"Oh my god Sandra...."
"Yes"
"I see her head"
Then they grabbed my legs told me to push
through my contactions and about 25
minutes later I had a nine pounder.
Mind you there was a lot of cursing,
kicking and begging in between there, and
a lot of apologizing between my
contractions..
but needless to say I'm one luck SOB to
have that big ol' girl out so fast.
Everyone that hears she's my first baby,
she was nine pounds and I only had about
30 minutes of hard labour seem pretty
stunned.
Heck so am I.
But she did do quite the toll I lost a lot
of blood was on antibiotics until this
morning.. and was bed ridden, I'm just
able to slightly walk now.
But all in all I got off pretty easy...
and got the best thing ever out of it.
I can't stop looking at her. She's so big
and warm and squishy and happy and I just
love love love her.
I'm the most giddy person you'll ever meet
after delivering a girl that size
The doctor was so stunned, he had told me
she's be between 7-7.5lbs roughly...
We were all stunned!
Sorry this is a little all over the placer
I typed it super fast...
I'll check in with everyone soon, but for
now i'm off to enjoy some time with Bella.
