lately my asthma has been getting
increasingly worse. about 2 months ago i
went to see my doctor because of this, and
she added a new medication. while this
worked at first, in the last few weeks my
asthma has become worse than ever. i'm
getting several asthma attacks a day (as
opposed to several a week), my rescue
inhaler is always needed in these asthma
attacks (before in some of the attacks i
could eventually work through the attack
without an inhaler), the inhaler isn't
quite as helpful or fast working as it
used to be [ in these attacks ], and
symptoms accompanying the attacks have
been born (lips turning blue and
oxygen-deprivation headaches). anyway, i
was wondering why my asthma seems to be
getting progressively worse lately, and
more importantly if there is anything i
can do about it.
thanks for any help in advance.

My asthma began getting worse some months
ago too, although it's more mild to
moderate persistant in nature. I was put
on Advair 500/50 (from Flovent) and I
really have seen an improvement. I rarely
use albuterol and haven't needed to take
the inhaler before exercise as I had for
years. If you are not on an inhaled
steroid, be sure to ask your doctor about
it. I had a few visits with my GP as my
asthma felt worse, he didn't do much so I
finally went to a pulmonologist, he put me
on Advair. It may be worth seeing a
specialist.
Good luck

coming up within a month or so, and i'll
discuss again with my regular doctor and
then if that doesn't work i'll see if i
can get my parents to bring me to a
specialist. thanks again.
