hi, i have been looking to speak to
someone in the same boat as me for a while
now. I was diagnosed with kidney failure
about two years ago now. I am 24 and have
been interested in health and fitness for
years, i was actually studying health and
fitness when i was diagnosed which was a
little ironic! I am due to go into
hospital in two weeks to have a catheter
inserted for dialysis to start and im not
looking forward to it! Is there anyone
else out there about the same age who
still keeps fit but has kidney failure?
Any advice on dialysis and how anyone else
coped would be well appreciated, thanks
Gav.

Hi Gav. I just want you to know that
you're in my thoughts. I have always
worried about this problem myself,
however, I was born with only 1 of my
kidneys. In the back of my mind I worry,
even though I've been lucky so far.. I'm
25. Stay strong, and keep us updated on
how you're doing.

Hi Gav,
I was on Heamodialysis for a few months
aged 15 in '93/94 before i had my fathers
kidney.
I didn't experience any issues playing
soccer/fitness training personally
although obviosuly with kidney function
descresing you will be feeling a lot more
tired and have less energy...
It's difficult to generalize as we are all
different..
