you cant emphasize the word good too much
when it comes to describing a doc for tmd.
if they dont know what they are doing they
cause more harm than good.

Update on my TMJ caused by my dentist.
Well it's been about 3 months now and I
finally just recently started the physical
therapy within 2-3 week, my jaw, beleieve
it or not is basically back to perfect
working order with no pain. YES!!!! the
only thing left is the ear clicking. My
physical therapist took a 2 week vaction
for her wedding so I had to chill out for
awhile until she came back, in that time I
tried to figure out what was causing this
ear clicking...
one day I was looking at myself in the
mirror and noticed when I tilted my head
from left to right (movement- try to rest
ear on shoulder) I saw that the right side
of my neck looked REALLY streched out and
when when I tilted it the other way I saw
that the bottom muscle of the neck( where
the top of a tie would go) the muscle was
moving in the wrong direction, compared to
the left side.
The Therapist came back about 2 weeks ago
and I told her what I found and she said
it looks like the root of all my problems
are comming from the neck muscles called
the Sternocleidomastoid(SCM) This muscle
connects from your sternum, to the collar
bone then to the back of the ear. She has
been working on it for about 2 weeks and I
see VERY little improvement with the
clicking it's more like changing the type
of clicking, but I do see improvement. She
said this will probably take awhile to get
back to normal, So there is still hope.
And until I see that my neck is back to
perfect working order, I will not give up
hope that everything will get back to
normal... Hope this helps people that
might not know whats going on with their
new situation, maybe this could be a good
start.
God Bless.....

Hi Everyone I need help Posted: 01-19-08 00:52am
I'm happy i saw this forum, I also have
tmjd, when i opened my mouth wide when i
woke up i just heard a loud cracking sound
so i try to do it again hoping it will
correct itself then it was the same, I
felt my jaw muscle is so stiff. Then i
went to breakfast and i was able to eat
few pcs of soft bread and milk( chewing
was hard already), so i tried to open and
close it hoping i just need to exercise it
but the more it become stiff, after a few
hours its even harder to open it so i was
on a liquid diet for that day and i took
2pcs 50mg of anti-inflammatory medicine
the next day i can open my mouth already
but on wide, when i opened it wide to
brush my teeth it is painful again, but
the pain stop right after i will finish
brushing my teeth.
I feel normal with everything, i only
experience pain when i eat (chew) and
brush my teeth, but i cant just go like
this longer, so I was thinking of going to
the doctor, my choice is a chiropractor,
do u really think they can help me. A for
you who have gone to a chiro how many
treatment does it take for you to be
completely ok.
I will pray that all of us here will be ok
soon.

neuromuscular dentistry would do wonders
for you. go to the chiro as well because
both together work the best. As for how
many treatments--that really depends on
you--how bad it is etc. Im sure that they
can help you.
