BAD LOWER BACK PAIN. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD
REALLY BAD BACK PAIN, BUT NOW WITH THE
CRAMPY FEELINGS I DONT KNOW IF IT IS
SOMETHING I SHOULD WORRY ABOUT, OR IF IT'S
NORMAL...
I AM A FIRST TIMEE PREGO. AND I AM VERY
WORRIED WITH TONS OF QUESTIONS, AND HELP

To me it sounds like Braxton hicks. They
are just practice contractions, and your
bodies way of preparing you for labour.
They should be uncomfortable but not
overly painful and will probably increase
and get worse the closer you get to giving
birth. They are totally normal and
generally last between 30 secs and a few
minutes. Like you said you will get a
crampy feeling and your belly will go hard
and feel heavy. Hope this helps

I agree^^. This is warm up for the real
thing. Some people will tell you braxton
hicks aren't painful...but I thought they
were quite uncomfortable!

I'm getting all of that and more. i'm 39
weeks and only 1 cm when they checked me
today but i guess all those practise
contractions got me that far so i won't
complain. i'm gooey and achey and tired
and sore all over and i can't sleep but at
the same time it's exciting that things
are happening. the worst side effect of
it all is me making too many posts in the
middle of the night when no one else is on
the forum because i have nothing better to
do!

Two Words - Braxton Hicks Posted: 08-13-07 21:57pm
lol...yep, that's what they are and it
makes me realise how great God is! I mean
for the human body to practise and get us
ready for the real thing is just great!
They scared me the first time and once I
thought I may be having a stroke coz mine
emanate from the base of my skull like a
burning sensation till they settle in my
lower back and intesify there.... I now
relish these feats of nature and trust I
am in good hands.
Enjoy them.....

I get those same cramps..feels like it
does when i have my period. My doctor told
me unless it comes with bleeding or really
severe cramping, that you shouldn't worry.
But i would call your doctor or bring it
up at your next appt.
