Is It Normal Not to Hear the Hearbeat At 16wks. Posted: 07-11-07 11:30am
Hey everyone! I was just wondering if
anyone else has gone through this. My OB
tried to hear the heartbeat today but all
he could hear was my blood flowing to the
placenta. I am 16wks so I thought today I
would've heard it. He scheduled me an
ultrasound for next week just in case.
Has this happened to anyone else

Sometimes early on it is harder to hear
the heartbeat, especially if your baby is
one who likes to "hide". It is also
harder to hear if a person is overweight,
and depending on what position the baby is
in. I am glad that they have set up an US
for you to be sure everything is OK. It
is so hard to be a nervous mom! They had
a hard time catching my first baby's heart
beat. Even in subsequent appointments, I
think she was a very "private" baby. LOL.
I hope you get in soon and you have your
mind put at ease. Good luck.
