transmission from cup ?

Ok, say I have an open cut on my lip, and someone else does too and gets a blood on the cup and 4 seconds later I put my lips on it, can there be transmission?

Transmission MAY occur. 4 seconds is too short a time for the virus to die. HIV dies 30 seconds to a minute after it hits the air.

Why would you be drinking from a cup with blood on it? Confused

well i didn;t really see any blood on it, and my lips weren't really bleeding either, (i had a small loose scab and the skin was damaged enough for it to burn when i drank orange juice for example) but i just put it in the worst case scenario.

I feel like you have more to say than you are saying.

If there was no blood, there was no HIV. If the wound had a scab, there was no way for HIV to get into the bloodstream.

For HIV to occur, one needs three things. One, a fluid HIGH in HIV. (Blood, semen, vaginal fluids and breast milk). If any of these fluids are not present, HIV will not occur.

You then need an activity. Unprotected sex, sharing dirty needles, childbirth and breast feeding.

The last thing you need for HIV to occur is a way to the bloodstream.

You might be worried about the saliva but saliva does not have enough HIV to cause infection.

What are you worried about?

Well what im worried about is that there was a small entrance to my bloodstream on my upper lip (there was a scab but wounds on lips don't heal very fast/well because they are constantly wet/being licked. I'm also worried that somehow, although not visible, maybe a small amount of blood mixed with saliva got on the edge of the glass or in the drink.

I believe Mson covered your questions and yet you didn't really respond to her when she said "I feel like you have more to say than you are saying." Are you the girl with OCD? If so then I think you can get a more productive response from the Anxiety OCD forum. If not then I'm sorry, I talk to a lot of people and some people with OCD become focused in an unhealthy way on HIV/AIDS.Here is the link.

I don't know if you guys read this post of mine:

"Well what im worried about is that there was a small entrance to my bloodstream on my upper lip (there was a *loose* scab and little tears in the skin but wounds on lips don't heal very fast/well because they are constantly wet/being licked. I'm also worried that somehow, although not visible, maybe a small amount of blood mixed with saliva got on the edge of the glass or in the drink."

This is entirely possible and logical.
I recognize that I'm being a little OCD about this, and yes it is ruining my life and my social interactions because it's always on my mind but I mean this is, to me, a completely valid concern.
