Treating HPV at home

I feel compelled to write this for all of you suffering with HPV.
I do not work for a company, nor am I going to list a company name or product name...its purely for your benefit because I think everyone should know this.

I'm a 28year old male, and have been in a steady 2 year relationship. I got diagnosed with HPV about 4-5 months ago, and my girlfriend developed two warts about a week later. Originally my fool GP said it was Molluscum and not to worry about it. After going to a Dermatologist who sees it all the time, I was given confirmation that the few bumps I had were HPV. They were frozen off, and I was given a prescription for Aldara cream. The Aldara was about $30 with my insurance, and I was supposed to use it 3 days on, 3 days off (putting it on before bed and washing it off in the AM).

Unfortunately for me, I'm one of the people that Aldara does not work for. So I have a pile of unused packs of it at my house. What a waste of money. My girlfriend however had an extreme reaction to it, and had to stop due to raw skin resulting. She hasnt had any symptoms since then. Knock on wood for her.

With my new insurance, freezing the warts is considered "Surgery" so I therefore am responsable for a $100 copay everytime. I therefore knew I couldnt afford to have them frozen anymore.

They have popped up one or two at a time and did spread to a hard to reach area. That area was treated with a resin at the office called Podophylox. I was told to leave it on for about 3 or 4 hours I believe and then wash it off. I did so. The Podopholox was extremely harsh and burned my ass to raw skin. Each day got worse until it was difficult to move, walk, sit, or sleep. It eventually turned the entire area white, and the small few warts were gone. The pain resolved in about a full week.

Back to treating them at home. I had read in all my research (and I did a ridiculous amount since the virus can be very life consuming if you let it) that you could use Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide. It's somewhat difficult to find in small jugs but VERY VERY affective. I believe I spent $7 for a jug of about a liter of it.

It's VERY caustic...i.e. - it eats skin up
But very affective in getting rid of the warts you have at home, and I believe is similar to the affects of something like Aldara which is designed to concentrate your immune response wherever you put it. The reason being is that usually when you use the H202, it inflames the wart area similar to what aldara does. I could be wrong but it seems likely that your immune system would realize there was something going on there and concentrate on the virus in that area to fix it. Its cheap, quick working, and you can do it in the privacy of your own place if you deal with the short tolerable pain that it causes. Its just a sting for a few minutes after you put it on.

Here's how you use it.
Do this after you've showered, as the skin is softer, and clean to avoid infection.

1 - Get a pin that you will use exclusively for this purpose and nothing else (i.e. - don't let anyone else use it).

2 - Get yourself a box of Qtips

3 - Get 35% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide in the smallest bottle you can.

4 - Heat up the pin by flame just to sterilize it. After its steril, gently scratch up the surface of the wart. Usually a mild scratch through it will do the trick. You're not trying to wound yourself here, just break through the hard cover of the wart. It may bleed a little, but its not necessary. Now carefully dip a Qtip into the H202 so its damp (not dripping). A little goes a long way! Avoid dripping it on yourself anywhere, as it will turn white and sting (if you do, wash it off quickly its not a big deal as the pain (tingling) will subside shortly after). Wearing gloves may help but not a big deal if not. I find that hold the Qtip down at all times avoids a drip running down onto your fingers. Now gently dab the moist Qtip to the wart that you scuffed up. It should immediately start foaming up white. I usually let it foam for a minute or two, then dab it clean with the dry side of the Qtip and repeat one or two times more. This will usually cause the area to get a little inflamed and burn like the dickens (it is however tolerable and worth the result). The tingle/burn will resolve within 5 minutes generally. Keep the area clean, and you may want to do it a couple times a day if possible.

The result is in a day or so it'll have healed up and disappeared free of scars or any hint that it was even there. I've been EXTREMELY pleased with this method and will not be freezing anymore off at $100 a pop, which has caused scars in the past. I don't get them very often anymore...knock on wood it stays that way or gets better!

I've dealt with it, and the WORST part for me is the stress over it. You feel depressed and generally like your life is falling apart. Honestly, that self loathing is the worste of it and only gets you if you dwell. Once you come to terms with having it, and you just have to treat them when you get them, and try to be generally healthier (avoid smoking, get exercise, eat right etc) you are OK. You just need to get through the shock of having it, and then think of it as something like acne. They say people usually clear it in a year or two...so I'll cross my fingers that happens...but I'm not going to lose my mind if it continues longer than that. You just gotta deal with them as they come and with that attitude, you'll be a lot better off. Be Happy! Stress is bad for the immune system!

I'm open to questions...but if you are interested, TRY THE H202!
I'm so happy I did!

I have begun condylox as well because I'm unsure if the peroxide is as effective in the anal region. It does however still work amazingly fast in the groin area.
