Lotion for stretch marks

Lotion doesn't prevent stretch marks? I read it on-line saying that lotion will not prevent you from getting stretch marks only the itchness that comes with stretch marks. I thought using cocoa butter lotion prevents stretch marks??? It this is not true I'm going to stop bathing myself in cocoa butter every night. Confused

Lotion does not prevent stretchmarks. Stretchmarks are hereditary. Moisturizing your skin can lessen them though. Cocoa butter will not hurt and may keep you from getting them really badly.

cocoa butter does not prevent stretch marks, if your gonna get them, you'll get them, it only helps blisters, itching and dry skin from getting stretch marks.
my sis in law spent all kinds of money on cocoa butter creams, she said these exact words.
its good to still use it though, cuz some pregnant women get bad blisters and it helps prevent that, but as for stretch marks, if you get them, you'll get them.

Ok good, thanks for the help ladies. It's not in my family to get stretch marks, as my mom, aunt or grandma never had them so I hope I keep up that tradition. But now I can chill out on the bottle of cocoa butter a week that I was going through..hahaha.

You're lucky.

I just started getting them on my tummy (35wks) and the thick cocoa butter I'm using is helping more than I thought.

But no, it doesn't prevent them. But it helps A LOT with the itchiness.

i didnt get the maternity cocoa and shea butter one[not sure the exact brand name], the smell turned me off, so i got the Vaseline Cocoa Butter deep conditioning. i have really dry skin right now, and i found that this one helps keep my skin moisturized all day and doesnt make my skin so peely..especially on my boobs lol
My mom got them, most the women in my family got them...so im doomed to get them too, i just hope i have good elasticity, so they arent so noticable after pregnancy!

pretty much what everyone else said. The funny thing is I didn't get a single stretch mark until after i had my son. Then when my skin went back into place I found out I had them all over my butt. Confused So don't do like me and think you're in the clear and brag about not getting them. At least until a month or so after you have your baby... Laughing

Stretch marks form from extreme weight gain OR weight LOSS. So it makes sense you got them AFTER you had him. Same thing happened to my friend. I blame it on her bragging her entire pregnancy Laughing

i didnt get a single stretch mark and yes, nothing will stop them no amount of cocoa butter , oils and expensive gimmicks. All you can do is hydrate to soothe itchiness of the stretching skin.

Lotion doesn't prevent stretchmarks, just softens the skin. I used palmers cocoa butter throughout my pregnancy with william, mainly because i loved the smell. it helped the itching and dry skin, but i still got stretchmarks
