Q: Trying to conceive and hormonal imbalances
asked by: DoctorQuestion on April 20th, 2009
Just recently me and my fiance are trying to get pregnant. But I'm not sure if I can even have kids. Since I my cycle is not normal. I think I have only spotted in March and that's it for like 3 days does that count as a period. but also i am very irregular my last period was in January. So I was wondering if that is possible for me to get pregnant or even have kids?

The data you provided do not necessarily mean that you are not able to conceive. Many women have irregular periods that differ both in duration and quantity of lost blood.

You might want to have laboratory tests for the female sexual hormones. If an examination at your gynecologist does not show any anatomy disorders of your genital organs and a genital infection is ruled out, then there is a great probability to conceive.

Of course, the irregular periods might make it more difficult for you to determine the exact date of ovulation, but having regular intercourse every day in the period approximately expected for ovulation might easily solve this problem.
