Remember….one shoe doesn’t fit all. My motto…take what you can use and leave the rest.

I have just finished reading your book and want to thank you for posting it.

I am in the midst of ending a 10 year marriage/relationship with my bipolar spouse
who refuses to manage his illness sometimes to the point of denying he has it, despite the many diagnosis of it over the past 20 years.

You were so accurate when you described how a caregiver can lose themselves - all I can say is that trying to manage his illness made me ill and as much as I love and care about the man I fell in love with - all traces of that man is gone and has been for a very long time.

Over the past 6 months I have been struggling with feelings of guilt and sadness and the feeling of responsibility for "throwing him to the wolves" by refusing to continue in our marriage. The lying and cheating has been present for the past 5 1/2 years and in retrospect I should have walked away a long time ago. Your writings have helped me realize that I cannot help someone who does not want to be helped and it is time for me to take care of me.

So thank you for helping me realize this and stop feeling guilty for putting myself first.

take care

I plan on reading it this weekend. Sounds like you have all your apples in the right basket. Nice to have someone who can share real life issues. And that is what ehealth is all about. Thank-you!
