Well I had my doctors appt this morning at
11:15am. I mentioned the vaginal pain and
twinges. She said as long as i wasn't
bleeding and they weren't persistant and
went away when i rested and drank water
that I shouldn't worry but if they kept
happening that i should go to the
hospital. In the morning the baby's
heartbeat was 163BPM.
Anyways I start work at 3pm so I had a nap
before work, drank lots of water and
headed out. At around 5pm I noticed that
they were actually getting worse and i
felt alot of pressure in my vaginal area
and in my tailbone (i don't know why my
tailbone feels so weird). So called my SO
who works with me and we went to the
hospital.
They took my blood and urine, asked me a
billion questions and tried to find the
heartbeat. It took the nurse a long time
beause she kept thinking my heartbeat was
the babys and I had to keep telling her it
was mine. I started kind of panicking
anyway and my heartrate went up but as
soon as she changed the side she was
looking for it on she found it. It was at
174BMP which the doctor said was perfect
and that it was probably a bit higher
because of my stress and doppler poking
around.
Then they told me my HCG levels were at 17
000 which he also said was perfect. I have
an ultrasound at 7:40am tomorrow, not just
to check the baby but to check my
appendix, intestines, stomach etc. to see
if theres something wrong there that could
be causing pain or pressure. He said
unless I start bleeding its probably just
stretching but wanted to make sure.
Anyways that was my stressful day. I'm
surprised I have YET to have any kind of
internal exam even at the doctors office.
I thought they might want to check my
cervix or whatever? Who knows. So wish me
luck tomorrow!

It wasn't so much the pain that was
worrying me, but i felt ALOT of pressure.
And my uterus is supposed to be moving out
of my pelvis and into my abdomen so I
don't know why it felt that way. I know in
later pregnant people have alot of
pressure down there but my baby is still
only like 7 or 8cm and doesn't weigh too
much so i'm not sure why I would be
feeling any.
My doctor told me to go though so I
thought i'd rather be on the safe side and
make sure everything was good.
And yep I did at least get an ultrasound
out of it!

lol yeah ultrasounds are awesome. i feel
pressure too, I think its because of your
uterus getting bigger, and heavier.

Thanks Amethyst. I'm really glad you feel
the same thing, and I guess your right the
uterus is getting bigger and i mean the
baby is still sitting SUPER low so I
imagine right now it could cause
pressure.
Thanks trijos. Luckily they don't think
anyone is wrong with the baby, they said
he/she is developing perfectly, great
heartbeat and normal amount of amniotic
fluid, theyre more concerned about some of
my other organs. Oh well I'm trying not to
worry too much and hope for the best!

You do not need your cervix checked! The
doctor shouldn't go poking around in there
because of risk of infection and risk of
starting a chain reaction - they poke
their finger into your cervix, your cervix
can start changing. A lot of doctors wait
until a woman is in active labor before he
ever does any poking around in there!

Ingi, I figured that was why they didn't
check it. I had just assumed (especially
prior to being pregnant) that I would have
had at least one internal exam, but maybe
its not necessary.
Anyways the ultrasound was ok. I saw the
baby for a brief little while and
everything was fine on that end, lots of
kicking and still good heartbeat. The pain
seems to have subsided but I won't know
what the actual results of the abdominal
ultrasound were until my doctor calls me
(she only calls if somethings wrong). So
ill wait and see. I think the pressure has
something to do with my colitis but I'm
not a doctor. In the meantime I'm going to
enjoy my day off work.

By the way i wasn't insinuating that they
check my cervix in the sense of "shoving
their fingers" up there, I was thinking
more along the lines of a simple internal
examination

When your cervix is checked, they do so by
sticking their fingers inside of it. That
is how they check for dilation.
