von eckmann-sträuner weissenhein disease Posted: 03-20-08 11:38am
Hello,
I just wonder if there's anybody who has
heard of "Von Eckmann-Sträuner
Weissenhein" progressive neurodegenerative
disease. I understand it's an extremely
rare fatal disease but I would like to
learn more about it.
I have just learned that my boyfriend is
one of the four ill cases in the world and
I would appreciate some information to
help understand the way this disease
evolves.
Thank You.

As far as I can tell from a translation
from a French forum, it's like this:
'' von eckmann-sträuner weissenhein''
This disease is in fact very rare and
occurs in about one per billion people.
The observed symptoms are:
-Hallucination
-delirium
-rheumatism and involuntary muscular
contractions
-logorrhées (I don't know how to
translate that)
-anguish & paranoia
-and sometimes psychosis.
The few people who contract this deadly
disease most often are diagnosed as
schizophrenic or sick simple psychotics...
Nevertheless the latest research shows
that this disease is (car type immune) -
(sorry for this translation) and that the
brains cells which are responsible for
reflection and sensations are attacked
little by little with the passing of the
years until their complete destruction and
the painful death of the patients. It is
necessary to understand that this disease
is not easily detectable and that those
who are diagnosed are condemned to live
only some years, the time that the brain
can no longer fulfill it's functions.
I am sure that many people reading this
will feel for you and your boyfriend,
amnesiac.
You have come to the right place as there
are many caring, supportive people here
who may not have the medical information
you seek but who will be there for you
when you want to talk.
Start by adding mominashoe and me to your
contacts.
