I was diagnosed a year ago with HPV with
the high risk types. I have subsequently
had a second pap smear and it has come
back within normal range. My GYN has
stated that if I am able to have three
more tests done every six months and they
come back with normal range, than I can
consider myself clear. However, he said
that I was always be HPV positive.
My question is this: about four months
ago I noticed a califlower growth on my
upper leg near my genital area. It first
appeared as a growth, grey in color and
then became flesh colored. My doctor
removed it by freezing it off. It seemed
strange at the time, it didn't even hurt
when she did that. It has peeled off and
now has left a very ugly red scar. Will
that scar go away? It is quite ugly and
is very visable, about the size of a half
inch in size.
Thank you for your advise. I truly
appreciate your help.

Our primary concern is to heal the wart
completely because even if the smallest
piece of the wart is left, the wart will
re-grow. You should wait for a couple of
months to see if the wart re-grows.
If the scar that remained after freezing
the wart is very big and ugly you may
consult a plastic surgeon for correction.
