but i have to ask something why not just let her come when she wants to. i dont think its right to get induced just so u can claim her on your 2008 taxes. babies need to cook as long as possible.

Because it's thousands of dollars versus a few days more of pregnancy. You don't have to agree with it - I'm not asking you to. My doctor would not do it if he did not agree that it was safe.

its more than a few days you said 10 days before your due date. thats what is wrong with doctors now a days if there is no medical reason why someone should be induced than they should wait it out.

Yes, my main concern was having her before 2008 ended. Since my due date is 12/27, that worried me. I mentioned it at my appointment yesterday, and was told that not only would I be induced before the year finished, but I would be induced before the holiday with enough time to recover so I could enjoy it fully.

10 days does sound like a lot. If it weren't for Christmas and the new year, I probably would not be doing it. This is going to be my last pregnancy, and I'm not in a rush to get it over and done with (although being full-term on Christmas day is not something I was ever looking forward to).

But think about this for a second: mothers who have a scheduled c-section are routinely cut open well before the 40 week mark. Their babies are usually taken at 38 weeks. Nothing is said about that, but because a woman is having her baby early vaginally, it's suddenly a problem.

I don't expect you to understand or agree, and you're entitled to your opinion. It doesn't bother me a bit. I trust my health care professionals to keep my well being and the well being of my daughter in mind. And because this is my second pregnancy, I'm going into this with both eyes open. I'm not blindly following their advice.

I would let the doctor make that decision. If they are wanting to induce then I would think that it is ok, unless you have a medical degree to back up your opinion feb2009?

i agree with you... ask any doctor.. a due date is an ESTIMATE... and that its COMPLETELY normal to deliver 2 weeks before, or 2 weeks after your due date... 2 weeks after is quite rare now, 10 days is under 2 weeks, so its not bad, i was born 2 weeks early and completely healthy ... other than a few complications due to conditions my mom developed while pregnant. If her doctor didnt think it was safe then he wouldnt let her do it. Plus for a few extra days... thousands of dollars can really help with rasinging a brand new baby...

i have seen alot of people on here ask how to make the baby come early and everyone always says let the baby come when it wants to. i could not live with myself if i deceided to have my baby early just for my own selfish reasons and something was wrong.

nothing is going to be wrong 10 days before the due date...its COMPLETELY normal for a baby to be born up to 2 weeks BEFORE THE DUE DATE or up to 2 weeks AFTER THE DUE DATE... c sections are usually scheduled at 38 weeks.. they wouldnt do that if there was a chance for anything to be wrong... if theres a problem with your baby at 38 weeks...then most likely will still have it at 40 weeks... some babys are just slow developers..theres nothing you can do about it, and 10 days is not going to make that much of a differnce in MOST cases... [but not all]

exactly.. no one can tell if a baby will be healthy or not at any gestational age... honestly if its that bad of a condition , then 10 days will not solve it... im not saying this for all cases but its highly unlikely 10 days will do anything... a due date is an ESTIMATE... there no exact date the baby should be born

Well thankfully for me, I didn't ask for your opinion over whether to induce or not. It's a decision my doctor and I made together.

And by the way, the only reason c-sections are done around the 38 week mark is to make sure the mother won't go into labor on her own. The babies are born perfectly healthy, and the mothers aren't given any sort of crap about being selfish. But because my daughter is coming out of my vagina instead of my abdomen, suddenly I'm a criminal.

You're going to find that there are a LOT of personal decisions you're going to make for your pregnancy and your baby that people are going to hotly disagree with. You have to decide whether to let that affect you, or whether you know that what you're doing is right for yourself and your situation.

My induction was never up for debate, and I'm secure in the decision I've reached with my doctor. You're free to feel whatever you want about your pregnancy - kindly stop worrying about mine now. Thanks.

True, but 37 weeks is considered "full term" & she's having her daughter a week & a half AFTER that. It's hardly going to be a premature delivery, & her doctor wouldn't purposely put a baby's life at risk so why make a fuss about it?

I was induced at 37 weeks & my daughter was perfectly healthy, despite the fact that she'd stopped growing from about 34 weeks onwards. I'm not saying every baby born early will be fine, but that stage of pregnancy is obviously considered full term for a reason.

Let it go.. it's not your life, or your child, so why do you care so much?

how bout we let this go... her decision to be induced is not by anyway dangerous for the baby ...and not any of our business.. like she said its between her and her doctor.

Her body, her child = her choice (and obviously a very informed one). I will be the first to say I would JUMP at the opportunity to delivery earlier because im due right before Christmas, if it didn't mean being induced
